Hi everyone, my first posting so be gentle. At the fear of breaking forum rules by asking a question that has been previously covered.
My apologies if so. My ignorance concerns encoding uncompressed avi files( home movie capture). I'm very new to all this and am struggling to get an overview of what is required for my purposes. I require to be able to convert my uncompressed avi home movies into a format that my Linktheater will recognise and play.I understand that I need to compress and encode(is that the right term?) these files. Had a bash using tmpgenc but ended up with seperate audio and video files. Linktheater played the video ok but I was wondering if I'd got optimal settings to retain quality.(mini dv footage). Presumably I need to merge these files. I tried following the avi to dvd guide without finally burning the dvd because Iwant to store the files on my pc and allow the BLT to use my wireless network to play. Sorry for the longwinded post but Newbie and somewhat feeling out of my depth. Any Pointers or advice or link to guides would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Lew
