Greetings ---
I am burning Foreign language film classics to DVD-R (using DVD Shrink + DVD Decrypter, or instead, DVDFab Decrypter), I need to transfer subtitles and do successfully, but the Commentary track cannot be turned off on several different films (using Audio button on remote, or Mono Audio Only selection in Menu.
How do I identify the Commentary Track so I can remove it, yet keep the original audio and subtitles with the main movie for burning?
And is there a good editor you would recommend that I should use?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

If you remove the "Audio Stream Change" and "Subpic Stream Change" Prohibited User Operations, it should be possible to change the audio and subpics during playback. Use PgcEdit to remove the PUOs from the IFOs. (Double-click on the main title PGC, and then on the "..." button at the right of the PUO value.)
If there are also some PUOs in the VOB files, you can remove them with the PUO plugin (available on my homepage.)

However, a subpic track (or some subtitles of the track) can be "forced", and displayed even if the stream is not selected. You can change the forced start command of the subpics with DVDSubEdit.

If you really want to remove a stream, use DVD Shrink. You can identify the audio tracks easily with its preview (right click on the preview pane.) Use DVDSubEdit to identify the subpic tracks. Just uncheck the streams you don't want, and click on the Backup button. Of course, if you don't want to shrink the DVD, change the compression type to "no compression".

Hi!How do I identify the Commentary Track(In addition to the suggestion by "r0lZ") Load the DVD into DVD Shrink - and look in the right-hand column at the list of audiotracks...

That's the list of tracks only. If the "Director comments" type has not been assigned to the track, this list cannot be used to identify the right track for sure. However, the director comments track is usually at the end of the list.

Also commentary tracks are usually 2 channel, whereas the main audio is 5.1

I much appreciate all your suggestions. Thanks very much r01z, and setarip_old too. I'll be trying out PGCEdit and applying the steps you suggested. I'll also try to ID the tracks by channel; I hadn't noticed that distiction before in DVD Shrink. And of course just uncheck the last listed audi track. All the best to you all.

Thanks for the word on the channels. I'll take a look for the types.
