This is the best you'll be able to do if you're encoding back to anything, because of the limits of the yv12 colorspace. And since encoders eat fine dithering, it's mostly a playback filter (and it's actually integrated into ffdshow now).

I've been having the same problems! It's really a pain cause you can denoise and it just cleans everything but those areas, making them stand out more than when they were covered up. I've been scouring the forums for days now and everyone seem to arive at the same consensus, dithering on playback is the way to go. I've remember someone mentioning somewhere about adding multiple steps of addgrain and denoising, but maybe that was for banding. If anyone has any methods of handeling this type of noise other than ffdshow filtering, be they less effective or not, I'd be interested in how you do it.

Didn't MG262 (aka Clouded) have a unique plugin for animation ?

Never tried it. Conceptually, it sounds interesting.
