View Full Version : PgcEdit v7 can't find suitable cell for LB

Hello,

I try to burn a DL disk filled (at 99,94%) with two movies. PgcEdit gives the following error message:

'Can't Find a suitable cell for the layer break!
Try to change the order of the titlesets with DVD -> Remap Titlesets, or remove some
unnecessary material.
Note for expert users:
Given the minimal ISO file size (4171397 sectors) and the capacity of your DL DVD+R,
the LB must be between absolute sectors 2084496 and 2086912 in the ISO.
The absolute starting sector of the VOB files of the Title domain of VTS 2 is 1727726.
The LB cell must begin between relative sectors 356770 and 359186 in that domain.
Therefore, try to split cell 5 of VTST 2,1 TTN 1 (2:51:58) Title 2.'

I can't delete any material from the compilation, nor would like to shrink the movies. Movie 1 is about 3374 MB, movie 2 ca. 4771 MB. I've added dummy chapters every 5 minutes to both movies, but that didn't help. Remapping titlesets didn't help either. What about the expert recommandation to split cell 5 of VTST 2,1? How do I do this? Are there other possibilities?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Split the suggested cell with vobblanker or dvdremake

Split the suggested cell with vobblanker or dvdremake

Yeah, I used VobBlanker to split cell 5, but I need more help. Can anybody briefly explain how to calculate a permitted split point within that cell with regards to 32KB gap option, entry sector mod16 rule, and VIDEO_TS offset?

My first try led to 'Cannot find the first VMG sector' in PgcEdit.

I have replied to your PM before I saw this thread. For the other ppl, here is my original reply:

Hum, the first VMG sector problem is often caused by a bad installation. Are you sure MKISOFS is correctly defined in the burn setup dialog? You should be able to display its version number with the "Check Version" button.
Also, try to load the DVD in DVD Shrink, just to be sure its structure is good.
If everything is fine, yes, send me the IFOs. However, note that it is difficult to test the burn function without the VOBs. I'm not sure I will be able to find the problem.

PgcEdit saves always the IFOs before a burn, to be sure that the 32K gap option is taken into account. But it's probably not the problem, since it's a normal save that is executed.
When a DL DVD is burnt, PgcEdit saves it again when the user has selected the LB cell, to change the VTS sector pointers according to the selected LB cell.

It is not necessary to select a split point with an offset that is divisible by 16. You can split the cell where you want. PgcEdit will add the necessary gap between VIDEO_TS.IFO or VIDEO_TS.VOB and VIDEO_TS.BUP to align the cell properly.
Anyway, the position of the split point has nothing to do with the first VMG sector problem.

BTW, you can also shrink the compilation a little bit (use DVD Shrink, in "custom ratio" compression mode, and set the compression level to something like 95%.)
