Hello. Here's the deal:
I have been trying to author one Anime DVD using DVD Lab Pro. I want to be able to show 2 subtitle streams at the same time, that way I could show one line on the top and one on the bottom of the screen. It's kinda forced subtitles.
The purpose for this is that I want to show some extra info [like the meaning of a word, or something like that] on the upper side of the screen while the dialog or conversations continues on the bottom part of the screen. I've seen some DVDs come with these feature, but I don't know how to do it.
Is there a way to do that in DVD Lab Pro or in any other DVD Authoring program?, please, I'll appreciate any light on this matter.

Hi, and welcome to the forum :)

Well, I'm not sure if the DVD specs allow you to show two streams. AFAIK it's not possible to show two subpics at the same time...

However, a workaround could be to have subpics with text at the top and bottom and a transparent area in the middle where the video is. Kinda lika I described in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=110335).

I don't think 2 subpic streams can be displayed at the same time either.

I have a DVD in my collection that displays 2-speaker dialogue lines, like

- Oh hello there.
- Nice to meet you.

at different times, with different colors, all within one subpicture. One of the lines is initially hidden, and then a 1-frame-length wipe reveals it. This eliminates the possible flicker that would otherwise occur on some standalones when loading the next subpicture. DVD Maestro and Scenarist are capable of wipes, you could look into those.

But it may be easiest for you to manually add the lines from your second subtitle track to the first, offsetting position as necessary, and just living with the possible "flicker".

Hi,

PowerDVD can display 2 sub streams at the same time. One at the bottom, the other at the top of the video.

http://www.cyberlink.com/english/products/powerdvd/7/features.jsp:
Dual Captions/Subtitles Display supports the viewing of two subtitle languages

I've tried it with an old version (4) and it's working very well

Standalone players can only handle ONE sub stream!
