This is getting way too complex.
My church recently lauched a new service in a new building. To make a long story short(er): the video is captured into a hard disk DV device, and the audio is recorded in multitrack.
The plan is to mix down the audio and give it to the video guy so he can edit his capture with the better audio. They're getting all worked up about timecode to make sure things stay in sync.
We're not messing with the framerate at all (standard NTSC here), and the audio isn't getting shifted around. So once the video guy, with the audio mixdown available, finds where they line up, why would they drift out of sync?
Or am I living in a world of how things should be, far from how things really are??
This is all hypothetical so far because the audio guy hasn't produced a mix yet and we're 6 weeks into it. But the video guy is freaking out because he can't get the timecode generator to interface with his harddisk DV recorder.
Man this is getting a out of hand.
The recorder is a Firestore FS-2E, the audio rig is Protools I think, and the timecode generator they're playing with is an Everetz or something like that. The final project is edited on Premiere Pro 2.
If anyone has some quick words of wisdom here, it would be much apprciated. Thank you.
EDIT: After reviewing a bit, this may be way outside the scope of this forum. I apologize if that's the case. Having said that, though, I'm not sure where else to seek information. There sure seem to be some smart folks that hang out here!!
