XMPEG flat out crashes in 2k and XP

I've been trying to move to xmpeg from flask, and keep running into the same problem...

Every time I go into the output setup, and select where to save the output file, xmpeg flatly crashes, giving me a standard windows "this app has crashed, error log created" message. The only way I've been able to get around it is by just leaving the default output location of c:\flaskout (or whatever it is in xmpeg). Even then, it only does video (yes I set it up correctly).

I've tried it in several installations of 2k and xp, and still have the same problem... HELP!!!

I've gotten a similar problem in 2k--only with me, it doesn't TELL me it crashes. It will get 10% done with encoding a file, and then just decide it's done. It's odd, because it does all the indexing, so I can watch the first few minutes of whatever I'm encoding, but there's a rather abrupt end.
