View Full Version : cannot extract raw h264 from avi

I'm trying to change fra .ogm to .mp4 container.

But i cannot seem to extra the raw h.264 stream from my avi, so that i can mux it with yamb/mp4box

I have encodet the avi with Fairuse and it contains nothing but the video track and it plays perfectly.

whenever i select the avi for extraction i get this message
"Cannot open E:\DVD-rip\The Man\The Man.avi - extension not supported"

Does anybody know another extraction program or what migt be the cause of this?

Use a recent build of mp4box or get YAMB which includes it.

I use Yamb v1.6
cannot se the version of mp4box.

that's why users should keep AVC away from VFW and AVI...
try avidemux.

why would you want to extract the video out? Just use mp4box and mux it into mp4 format then you're done

Or you can create a MKV out of it and use MKVExtractGUI and extract the H264 into a .264 raw stream then u mux it with mp4box

Creating an mkv out of AVC AVI gets you a vfw format mkv, which means you get the same avi back when you extract it. mkvmerge doesn't parse AVC in AVI yet. (And may never.)

If you can't get avidemux to work there's always avi2raw.exe.

why would you want to extract the video out? Just use mp4box and mux it into mp4 format then you're done

the doom9 guide told me to do it :scared: :D

anyway i just wises to mux my avi (contained x264 encodet video only) with my .m4a audio track and some srt subs.

i used to use a simple program named ogmmux wen i was using .ogm containers.
sisnt there a similar. easy ,no bells and whisle program for .mp4 container.

seems lile yamb/mp4box just doesn't like my avi file (extension not supported")

Found a new version of mp4box.
seems to work now.

I have no trouble extracting raw h264 from avi made with Fairuse using Yamb. None whatsoever.
