Well this is quite interesting (to me atleast). So its just a repackaged PC with lots of DRM and to top it - its running on Linux :eek:

I somehow doubt this is the most efficient way to decode HD video data - sure its first gen but throwing in a generic PC CPU? Is that all they could come up? Are there really no specialised hardware solutions for this that would also be cheaper?

I was totally shocked to see what was inside. I really did not expect that at all. But, now I'm really curious to see what's inside Sonys Blue-ray player :D

I just popped open my XA1 and now I've got the NEC HR-1100A Drive in my computer. It will play DVD and CD but not HD-DVD (looks like a Windows issue). Someone find someone that has this thing working and post me back here. :)
