I'm a little worried about some of my D_VHS D_Theater tapes and would like to back them up. Is it possible? If so, anywhere you can ppoint me to get more info on how to do it?
Thanks,
Scott

You mean backing them up to a computer file (e.g. DivX)? You would first need a cable to connect your D-VHS player to your computer. I don't know if that's possible, but if it is, you will most certainly need a digital video capture card.

I want to extract the movie to a .ts file. No problems on the connection because my computer has a firewire card.

try:
http://www.yamabe.org/soft/CapDVHS0306.zip
best go to the page to download it. it's bad netiquette to directly link someone's free software, but considering that page is written in moon language i figured it'd save a bit of time to link it directly.
otherwise just go to:
http://www.yamabe.org/
and go to "freesoft" and click the first link you see in english...
note: i haven't tried this software, i just did some googling and found this thread:

good luck :)

You won't get far with D-Theater pre-recorded tapes. They are 5C/DTCP encrypted. Pre-recorded tapes from HDNet are in the clear.

You mean that D-VHS tapes sold by HDNet are not encrypted?
