View Full Version : AGK: XviD for Philips DVP642

I've been using AGK and XviD to back-up movies to CD-R so my kids can watch them with a Philips DVP642. One oddity I haven't nailed yet is that Fast-Forward and Fast-Rewind do not always seem to work. I use the ESS Standalone option and aim for a bit-rate below 925kbps (I had googled a suggestion that this was necessary). Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't and I don't know why. I also often try to reduce the bit rate for credits, but haven't been able to say that is the suspect.

Can anyone clue me in? I thought it might be a buffering problem and that would lead to the suggestion to not let the bit-rate get too high. I also read that higher bit-rates would work if I went to recordable DVDs.

!!! Thanks !!!

Hi,

Maybe you could post in the Hardware sections (be-careful about doule posting) and link to this post to target others DVP642 users ? I don't have any problem with my SAP (MTK 1389 chip, not ESS)

Concerning the bitrate with DVD+-R, I would rather speak of transfer speed, and yes the transfer speed is much higher between SAP and DVD+-R (or RW) than SAP and CD-R; will it resolve your problem? dunno.
