Hi,

i have an avi-file which i want to make a DVD from. Since the Movie is very long and i want to take about 6 Hours of Video on one DVD. I have seen a solution, where the Resolution of the video is halfed, what is mpeg-2-conform, so the video has the size 352x576 of Pixels.

This movie i have is a 16/9 movie.

So now i want to make an mpeg2-file, which has the resolution of 352x576 Pixels but has a 16:9-Format. I did a test and on my pc the file was shown correct.

I wanna ask: Would this file play on DVD-Player's correct? Or does someone heared about problems?

PS: If this is the wrong Forum, i'm sorry. Pleas move the thread then.

The spec says only 720 and 704 widths can be 16:9, but a lot of players will play the other two resolutions correctly.

Why would you want to make a DVD with so low a resolution? I can't see anything at that size, on almost any screen.

Hi!

I think you're confusing screen image size with resolution. If a standalone DVD player can handle "1/2 DVD" resolution (as most can) the image displayed will occupy the entire screen...

It's just bigger than 352x244 (VCD1)... And Since it is a 16/9 movie and with a higher Y-Resolution should it have more information.

But in general you are right... It's not the best choise. The movie is nice but not that nice, so i want to make more than 1 DVD of it... That's why i choose 352x576.

And what @setarip_old said is right... The Result-Reolution is an 1:1 Resolution of the movie (i think 768x576)
