I'd like to transfer my VHS and Hi-8 tapes to CD. I need some good capture hardware. I have a P4 1.5Ghz with 256MB RD-RAM. Encoding video to MPEG 1/2 afterwards is not a problem. I just need something ot capture video at 640x480 (min) in real time. Real time MPEG encoding wouldn't hurt if that price is right though. I'd like to stay under $250 Thanks.

I have had great use out of my Osprey 210 capture card. Works great in VirtualDub, and rarely ever drops frames unless the source is particularly bad.
You can find information about the card, as well as a dealer list at www.viewcast.com

For that you can get an ATI 8500 and get one of the best gaming cards also, You can also get an ATI AIW radeon for about $100 that is also very good, one reason I select these they are one card that does both, video out and capture, less cards in your machine ALWAYS means less headaches, I did use a TV99 ($40) capture card for over year though with no problems and all three of these will capture at what ever you want them to using vdub.
