I have been using Shrink happily for years with my Nero 6 Ultra but now it is constantly reporting "fail to burn" messages. At first I thought it was because of a new copy protection block on commercial DVD's. I back the ones I buy up for traveling so I don't lose or damage my purchased product.
However, I also make my own DVD's off of TV and now I get the same message that the burn has failed! I tried with several blanck DVD's so that is not the problem. I tried to copy something I had already copied sucessfuly before, and that didn't work either. I tried removing and reinstaling Nero without getting any updates for the software, in case a new block had been incorporated into Nero, I still have the problem.
I have heard from some that I should get a different DVD recording software for Shrink to work with, and then there is this registry key which pops up at the end of the error message,HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option) . So my question is, has microsoft included some ripping block in a security update? OR does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
The DVD's are backing up onto the hard drive, they are just not recording onto a new disc.

Hi!

Have you tried performing a "System Restore" back to the last time things were working properly?

Yes I did everything possible to get my system back to when it was recording with Nero. That is why I am bringing up the question. Other friends are still recording with Nero no problem. I don't want to have to completely wipe my system and start all over again.
For one thing, I'm not sure I could find a site for downloading DVD Shrink any more.

I hope someone has an answer to this problem.
