What do people think are the minimum specs for running divx movies.
does the graphics card make a difference to the speed?

i have an old pentium 266 mmx (o/c'd) with 64meg ram thats mostly used for word processing. I tried playing a divx and it ran at about 10 fps. It only has a 2meg graphics card, would a better one make any difference.

of course this isnt my current computer, but i thought it would be nice if i could play divx movies on it.

thanks

Yes, the graphics card does make a difference. And the minimum AMD processor I've gotten to play back full D1 (720x480) 30fps video was a K6-2/450. I don't know about Intel, gave up on them a long time ago.

233....no chance

out of my computers
p3 450 works with voodoo banshee
celeron 300@450 works with voodoo banshee
p3 600 does not work with s3 onboard graphics

so yes graphics card makes a diff
as does cd speed (if reading off cd)

duron 700 onboard mx400, athlon 800 tnt2 ultra, athlon 1300 herc mx400, celeron 1000 mx400
all work perfectly

I don't know if 266Mhz is enough, but if u are using divX 4.xx make sure the postprosessing level is set to 0 (slider set to leftmost position).
