Hello,
I have been considering purchasing an external DVD writer so I may us it on my laptop and desktop. My desktop is a Celeron D processor (Processor speed 2.66GHz, 533MHz front side bus).
Will this be sufficient to run a burner successfully?
Thank you.

Assuming it has USB 2.0, there should be no problem. The computer's speed has little relevance to burning DVDs.

Which burner are you thinking about getting?

I am looking at the LG GSA-4167B. It requires a PIII 700 MHz. I assume it will operate on my system ok, but I just wasn't sure about running the Celeron vs. pentium III.
Cheers.

Hi tigerzcrib,
The Celeron and external burner shouldn't be a problem, if P3 is the minimum requirement for the processor.
A Celeron @ 2.66 GHz should beat the pants of a P3 at 700 MHz.
All the best
