Hi everyone!
Im about to do my second dual layer burn, i read/searched the forums but i still have some questions?
1- Is it safe to backup a Arccos protected dvd by using read/write combination in DVDD? i know it will be a 1:1 copy and user prohibited actions will still be there.
2.if the question to the previous qustion was no, i guess ill have to use DVD43 or Anydvd, but will the layer break information be lost if i use those programs in the background?
3-i could use DVDD+psl+fixvts to decrypt and then use pgcedit+dvddecrypter to crate an iso and burn, but on my first test i followed the guides on the pgcedit website on howto burn a dual layer dvd but my fuinal dvd can only play the first hour of the dvd and some of the buttons overlays have moved down on the menu screen.
just wanted a quick method even if it mean having all those warnings on the backup dvd and dvdd iso read/writte seems like the simpler one
thanks

I believe you'll discover that not until you made and imported a PSL2 file will DVD Decrypter be able to rip an ARccOS-copy protected DVD.
On the other hand, RipGuard-copy protected DVDs CAN be copied on a 1:1 basis, using the method you've described...

Thanks for the info Setarip!
i just bought legend of Zorro and Bewitched and because i now have a dual layer burner iwant to backup the 2 of them with no compression.
if i make he psl2 file and then import it to DVDD, can i create a iso 1:1 with no layer information being lost? can i skip the "warnings" at the beggining of the movie when playing the backup on my computer?
the skipping is not a big deal if it cant be done, its annoyng havingto wait for the warnings to finish (5 on the one i have, between main menu and the actuall begining of the movie) this should be banned or at least put before the main menu as intros, not after pressing play movie and before the actual movie start!

If you use anydvd in conjuction with dvddecyrptor you will need nothing else anydvd will take care of all the encryption for you and layer break info will remain

Thanks for the info ausguy.
can you tell me what settings i should disable in DVDDEcrypter when having anydvd decrypting in the background?
As this is only a test (dvd+dl still expensive here) i might just buy anydvd when media DL cost comes down, can you tell me if i followthe steps mentioned here (dvdd+pgcedit) to make/save a psl2 file, and then instead of decrypting in file mode like the guide says, can i do in iso mode?
will this work? because if i do it in file mode and then create a a iso by using dvdshrink, i think i read somewhere the layer break info will be lost.
Thanks

for anydvd In settings under general uncheck check for structure protection in I/O settings select elby CDIO and you should be okay. for dual layer read in iso mode an mds file will automatically created by default once it is created you select write in iso mode when selecting your image select the mds file select bitsetting for greater compatability and burn
and you should have a perfect 1-1 copy ...
This is the meathod recommended by many in this and other forums as they are obsessed with keeping the origional layer break , In respect to reauthoring a dual layer disc the recomended meathod is to reathor the disc as you wish and use pgc edit to create an iso and burn with imageburn another good meathod . Myself I could not be bothered with all the rigmarol (hmm did I spell that right) what I do is use clonedvd movie only preserve menues and rip to the hardisk in file mode which ensures that the layer break is removed
I then open discjuggler pro drag the directories onto the disc and burn bitsetting is auto juggler will insert its own layer break . have burned 40+ dual layer dvds never had a prob yet all play flawlessy in a variety of players but hey thats just what I do you have to do it your way (didnt someone sing that) hope this helps
