First off, i'm a total newbie, but would like to say hi to everybody and hope you guys and gals will be able to help me in plan easy to understand english ;)

I own a AVOX Jukebox TX with a 100gig drive and have started filling it up with my own personnal DVD collection.
I'm using Kingdia DVD Ripper v2.5.3 and have installed the latest version of the Xvid codec (i think:o ).
I own Blackadder seasons 1 to 4 and also The Shield seasons 1 to 4 (purchased in america).
All went reasonably well with Blackadder disk 1, season 1.
A few of the 6 episodes required absolutely no adjustments in Kingdia DVD Ripper (default), however the remainer of the episodes required that the option to "Output frame rate force 24HZ" be selected (this brought the sound into sync for these episodes).
Ended up with 6 really good quality ripped episodes for my AVOX.

Blackadder season 2, episode 1 also went well.
My problems have started with episode 2 to 6. No matter how "Output frame rate force 24HZ" is selected (on or off) the sound is not in sync with the picture. I also get the sound dropping out completely for about a second every say 10 to 15 seconds.
The above mentioned problems also appear when I try to rip my 4 seasons of The Shield.
Please, can anybody help, I'm a total newbie and have tried to read as many of the posts as possible, but haven't been able to find anything that may solve my problem.

Hope all this makes sense to everybody.

Hm, the ripping software you've used seems positively esoteric. Never heard of it. That it forces you to encode sound at 24khz is very, very strange and seems the source of your problem.

I urge you to switch to a different software. How about using the software used in the guides at doom9? Anyway, I had no such strange phenomeons with the Blackadder DVDs, so it isn't a difficult source, I think.

Also, this problem has got absolutely nothing to do with XviD. For now --> moved to Newbies.

Hi Folks

Need some help here. I am trying to rip Season 4 of THE SHIELD which I do own.
I am very new to this ripping thing and just don’t understand most of what you guys and gals are talking about.
I’ve managed to rip season 1 of THE SHIELD just fine using Intervideo DVDCopy 4.
Ripped the season as 13 single episodes and each file ended up at about 360meg per 45 minutes.
Settings were “DivX (Avi) – No Split – With DivX Profile = Portable (950KBits 352x240/352x288)”
Files Play back lovely from my AVOX Jukebox TX onto my portable TV (really good quality).

My problems have started with Episode 2 to 13 of season 4. Episode 1 has worked just as it had done when I ripped season 1.
Episodes 2 to 13 rip OK but the sound is out of Sync, WHY?
Can anybody explain in plain English why this is happening and most important how can I rip these DVDs for use on my AVOX.

I've merged these two threads, most of the information/problems are virtually the same. Instead of creating a new thread, just add information to the old one.

hi

from what i gather, you want to convert your originally purcased dvd's into avi (divx or xvid) files.

if i were you i would use dvd decrypter to rip each single episode to your pc's hard drive, and then use autoGK to convert to divx or xvid.

its dead easy, and theres a good guide on the front page for this.

thats exactly the way i would try to fix it

another way is to open virtualdub, load your avi-file, and then under video -> framerate activate the radio button "sync with audio"

save it as new file, and don´t forget to activate direct stream copy for video and audio

that should do the trick

if you don´t know virtual dub, download it and try it ( try and error, thats the best way to learn new tools ) or look in the guide section at doom9.net
