View Full Version : How to use AGK without DVDDecryptor

I'm hoping someone here has an idea. As you know the new Sony encryption stumps DVD Decryptor. I have found that DVD FabDecryptor will break the encryption, but as has been noted, AutoGK cannot read the files copied by DVD FabDecryptor. I had thought I could pick up the files with DVD Decryptor following DVD Fab's process, but I cannot find a way to get DVD Decryptor to recognize the files which are on the hard drive. The AutoGK .avi file just works great on the Dlink DSM-520.
I'm looking for a suggestion to get the decrypted files available to AutoGK. The Xvid codec in AutoGK works beautifully with my media server. I'm sure there must be a way.
Thanks a lot for any thoughts. ;)

This should work in most cases:
To "clean up" the files, load the DVDFab Decrypter rip into VOBBlanker (set an output file location), select "Process all" - and then simply press the "Process" radiobutton...

If you're referring to the ARccOS protection, it's easily defeated. You can:
1) Rip the main movie files in .IFO mode, then encode as usual and adjust audio synch problems with VirtualDubMod if needed.
2) Google your DVD title along with "psl2" and load that when ripping.
As far as I know, only Disney titles use an encryption method that successfully defeats DVD Decrypter.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out VOBBlanker and see what it does. I'm guessing from your comments that this process will produce something that AutoGK can use...

Actually, I was trying to backup two titles to my media server using DVD Decrypter and AutoGK. They are Fun with Dick & Jane and Capote; both I think use the ARccoS encryption. In both cases DVD Decrypter stops at the same file with 20+ retries and then a failed message. This happens in both File Mode and IFO mode. So, it cannot produce the IFO files that are needed by AutoGK.
I have thought that if I could get Nero Recode 2 CE to work on my server (it's supposed to, but doesn't), then I can go from file mode and DVDFab Decrypter should work. AutoGK is great, but apparently needs DVD Decryptor.
It's really too bad about DVD Decrypter; that has been a terrific utility!

For the two titles you've mentioned, after ripping the FULL DVD with DVDFab Decrypter, you should be able to "fix" the rip (so that AutoGK will accept them) by following my earlier suggestion...

I have been using the latest dvd-decryptor for the longest time now and just recently(yesterday) did i find out that there'll no longer be any updates. I found this out due to the problem associated with Dick and Jane, but as before with older versions of DD after an update it usually tells which cells are the dummy ones. Knowing that I went through the first chapter and looked at the length of all the cells (+50 of them).
The length varied from 00.000-00.007 for 98% of them, the last being about 8minutes, I just unchecked all of those small cells, kept the 8minutes, ripped and encoded, and mine worked out just fine.

That's fascinating. I've still got a lot to learn about all this stuff....I don't have a clue what you're referring to ! :o
I did get the movie onto a DVD by using DVDFab Decryptor and then did my usual copy. In this case using Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5. I was not able to get a good copy to go to the Dlink DSM-520. The discussion of that device belongs in another section, but suffice it to say that when it works, which it does on occasion, it's great....it's those other times! The numerous ones! No support from DLink!

He is talking about using DVDD in manual mode and unchecking small parts called cells before processing to overcome the protection.

It may be that your output set, if VOB Files, is not DVD compliant due to the protection, in this case you may overcome it by using Setarip_old trick: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=814511#post814511
or even FixVTS, just test.
Please if further questions, start your own thread outside the Gknot/AGK section because, as you stated it is not really related

What I do is use anydvd and then use clonedvd2 or nero recode to rip the main movie and audio channels I want to my hard drive (non compressed) Then I run AGK and point to that IFO file.
Seems to work on all arccos, ripguard movies.
