I just started a new project: PF NoobEnc !

It's a simple GUI for MPEG2-Encoder like QuEnc and HCEnc.

Now I wanted to know what you think about such a tool (sounds interesting; no need; ...) and what Encoder you would like to be supported.

greets form bavaria :D

What do you understand in a Noob-GUI for beginners? You want to do a 1-Click-app or what?

Every Encoder has lots of functions. When you want to do a Noob-GUI you must read out the inputfiles.

AutoQ2 for example supports now VOB, D2V, AVI and AVS as input and reads out most of all informations and setup my gui.

Also it is interesting what language you use to code your tool.

PLZ post more information what your tool should do ...

I found your first alpha release. I'll take a look into it.

I don't want to make a 1-Click-app but I want that also beginners can encode their movies easily.

At the moment it only accepts avs-files but when it's finished it will open avs, avi, d2v and mpeg files (an avs-file will be created)!

I've made 3 Profiles which can be used: Fast - Normal - Quality
Most of you know that HCEnc and QuEnc have different functions and so there is no real 'Normal'-Profile in HCEnc which is exactly the same in QuEnc. So I tried to use settings which are (in my opinion) more or less the same! You can read them in the batch-files which are created.

I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition.
I'm a "Noob" in coding and not so talented but I try to make the best out of it because I like making apps.

For Bavaria it would be better to make a weather-control-app :D

The first official alpha is now finished!
AutoQMatEnc is not supported yet (perhaps in the future).

I hope my app will be useful for some people!

Haven't tried it yet, but I must say I love the name :D

Once this program is ready (supporting the file types) it will be ideal for someone who hasn't got a clue what all the options in the different encoders do, i.e. it will be perfect for me. :thanks:

Pretty nice application, I might use it not because I'm a noob (i'm not really a noob i know how to use all the programs) because its easier and I don't require advanced configuration. in HC I have to save a darn configuration file, and i get all these pop ups about dvd compliance, so it would be less of a hassle to use this software.

PF NoobEnc 0.1.2 alpha (http://www.mpeg-vs-avi.de/)

- avi-files are supported

What other MPEG2-Encoder would you like to be supported ?
What would you change ?

Thanks for this wonderfully simple tool. I'll probably use it to re-encode mpegs that are not fully dvd compatible.

Could you introduce a setting for gop lengths and/or a checkbox such as "dvd compatible"?

Edit: Does it have to be .net 2? ;-)

Just an observation... These path links seem to be the wrong way round: -

@SeeMoreDigital: Thanks, will correct it with the next version. The buttons are just named wrong.

@urvieh: I will add a new profile for experts where you can edit different things (like "gop length") !

PF NoobEnc 0.1.3 alpha (http://www.mpeg-vs-avi.de)

- bug fixed: buttons were named wrong

PF NoobEnc (http://www.mpeg-vs-avi.de) is now beta ! (Version: 0.2 beta)

- "Pathes" have now their own window -> main window is more clearly
- added a profile: "Own Settings" - You can change nearly all the settings the encoder has

I hope there are no bugs - but it's still "beta" !

As was previously asked by "urvieh", does it have to be .net 2?

Fluffbutt

.net?

Oh well, I'll not be trying it then....

Paukenfell

I'll test if it it also works without .net!

Paukenfell
28th May 2006, 10:13
Sorry, but if you don't have .net you're not even able to start it!

That would be a Paukenschlag, Paukenfell :).
