I use CCE OPV for most of my movie backups and I've noticed that when menu encoding is enabled, the menu size often increases. Any reason for this? I use DVDSHRINK analysis to check sizes before and after encoding with DVDRB and this seems to happen on a regular basis. It has happened with my last few backups - Fight Club, Whale Rider, and Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

I haven't tested whether or not this is an OPV-specific issue, but I can if it will help.

I am using version 1.09.2 by the way.

Note: I do some pre-processing on occasion with vobblanker (get rid of FBI screens etc..) and menushrink (convert chapter video clips to still). While I know this makes this issue difficult to track, on my latest backup of "Get Rich or Die Tryin'", I didn't do any pre-processing on the menus. Menu size increased from 95 mb to 120 mb after running through DVDRB with menu encoding enabled.

Thanks for your comments.

I wouldn't recommend selecting menu encoding with OPV. Menus are generally small segments and OPV doesn't have sufficient granularity. It also tries to predict with a 1% sample... on a small menu (for example 200 frames) that would mean the prediction would be based on 2 frames (rounded to a GOP of 12 or so). The size could be all over the place.
