Hi,
sorry for posting in this section, I didn#t find another appropriate.
Just have a question concerning muxxing.
Is it possible to mux an Mpeg2 Stream (*.m2v) and two AC3 Streams in one avi Container. I know it is possible with an Matroska Container but unfortunately my SAP just accepts AVI.
Thanks
Alex

Hi!
You should be able to accomplish this in VirtualDubMOD.
Note - For playback, in order to access both audiostreams, you may have to install a stream switcher, such as Morgan Stream Switcher...

Hi There,
thanks a lot. I tried with VirtualDubMod but the Problem is that it cannot export to avi with keeping the Mpeg Format. Of course I could recompress it to an XVID, DIVX but my Player cannot handle that. So it must be am Mpeg Stream.
Thanks

If it "accepts .AVI", it certainly should accept a DivX-compressed .AVI (But not necessarily an XviD-compressed .AVI)...

Hi,
sorry for my bad English. Difficult to describe what I want :-)
I'm using the showcenter. The problem is that it can handle only avi containers nor matroska nor vorbis. It is also able to handle a XVID/DIVX Stream in an AVI container, but with a very bad performance. You cannot rewind or fastforward and it takes hours till it is loades. That's why I decided to keep the Mpeg2 Streams. Of course I can rip a dvd and load the VOBS but then there are stops(breaks) becuase of canging the file.
So what I want is one big file with a MPEG2 Format and min. 2 Audio Streams and min 1 Subtitle.
Or would it be possible to join the VOBS. Sorry if that#s a stupid question I've never done that before.
Thanks
Alex

What you'll probably want to do is to reauthor a new DVD - there are plenty of guides and different programs as well as posts on the same subject in the DVD authoring sub-forum. As far as I know, you can't mux MPEG-2 into an .AVI.

Hi,
thanks for your answer. It seems that it is not possible to mux Mpeg2 in AVI. Unfortunately.
Of course I could Reauthor but then I would have a number of VOBS again. Is it possible to join the vobs to one big file.

Why exactly are you trying to mux mpeg-2 streams into an avi? Why don't you just play your DVD?

Well, the Problem is that I need one big file (cause my SAP break the stream when changing the file; Sometimes it even changes the language). Unfortunately the Player cannot handle DIVX/XVID Streams (You see a picture but cannot wind or change the language) so I need an Mpeg 2 codec file. I know that it is possible to mux that in a Matroska Container(but the Player don't accept Matroska, just AVI). S the only chance I have is to mux an MPEG2 codec stream in an avi container.
The other Idea would be to join the vobs but I don't know if that is possible or which application can do that.
I hope that was understandable, sorry again for the bad English, but it would be even difficult to explain in my language.
Thanks

No, I was asking why don't you just play the DVD itself rather than trying to create some new file.

I use the showcenter. That can play the streams using the Network. Of course I also use a dvdplayer but it is much more confortable to save the DVD on the Server and play it with the Showcenter.

Exactly. It's alot easier to just play a file, rather than go through the whole dvd rigamarole.

So what I want is one big file with a MPEG2 Format and min. 2 Audio Streams and min 1 Subtitle.(Assuming your storage drive is in NTSF format) You can simply set either DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink to rip your DVD to your storge drive as ONE .VOB...

MPEG2 in AVI ? Impossible ! VDM can not do that, it can only decode MPEG and put the raw, uncompressed video into an AVI (this is going to be HUGE then), or compress to any VCM codec in AVI.

Minor correction. I think its NTFS (NT File System).

Definately. That's the way to go.
That's strange though that your SAP supports Mpeg-4 but has such trouble seeking. Perhaps you just need to make a very special mpeg-4 stream, with not many advanced features (simple profile, no b-frames maybe?).
If you did this - then you could still cut the filesize down somewhat, and hopefully it would work well with your SAP.
You might want to also look into newer firmware for your SAP. sometimes new firmware can make all the difference in the world :)
Otherwise, (though it seems unholy and inherently evil) you MAY be able to mux mpeg-2 video into an avi... That's total hackery though IMHO.
Good luck, sounds like your setup has great possibilities.

[EDIT]
Just tested this, works perfectly:mencoder input.mpg -o output.avi -ovc copy -oac copy -of avi -ffourcc mpg2
So it's not so difficult after all.
