i'm not new to video encoding at all, I am new to ipod videos however. I'm not sure the best way to do this. I have created and edited my entire video in DV and is now DV type-1 in YUY2. Whats the best way to get this to into whatever ipod uses? I assume mp4/aac. Im not even sure what resolution should be. What i'd prefer is to resize in avisynth then encode in mp4(not even sure what codec to use). Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks guys!

If you feel confortable to mess with avisynth use megui , if not use staxrip..
The main codec is x264 or for the comercial Nero/atheme

If you have quicktime pro, and want to do it REALLY simply, just open the DV in quicktime, and export, there will be a drop down where you can select iPod. That should take care of everything.

But we all know Apple's H.264 codec sucks :) by comparison anyway... as bratao sais, MeGui can power x264, which is a much better (and free) option for personal use IMHO...
