I have been useing DVD Shrink sucsessfuly for the past few months so I know that it works on my system. A couple of weeks ago It quit working while I was trying to backup a copy of a popular HBO series. I can open the disk fine, but the moment I click the "backup" button the program shuts down. I have uninstalled and re downloaded, and reinstalled, still doesn't work. I have checked for possible bad spots in memory, nothing. I have gone back to a restore point at a time before the problem occured, and still no luck. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the Forum:
What's the title of the disc? It's quite possible that you've run up against the ArccoS protection scheme. Run forum searches on your title, out on the net, and look in the One Click forum. This should be easy to track down and fix.

Sounds like you may have contracted a virus...

Could be a virus, like setarip_old says. Shrink not working on anything now, even after you restored your system to previous states when it did work, could also be explained by a failure of a hardware component as well. Swapping out the DVD drive would be fast and would eliminate the most probable source of a hardware issue, if it is hardware. Backing up your data, reformatting and reinstalling your operating system and Shrink would tell you whether it was a hardware or software problem, but this would require more time.

It could be a problem with Nero burning rom. Did you update it recently?
They did something to it so it doesn't work with DVDshrink when copying dolby 5.1 or something. Now they expect you to buy a plug-in.
If this is your problem, you can try to revert back to Nero-6.6.0.18. This previous version doesn't have this issue.
Go to http://www.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and get the Nero 6 clean tool.
You should first write down your serial number. Then delete Nero burning rom. Run the Nero 6.0 clean tool. And then re-install with the previous version 6.6.0.18.
