Hi,
I have some DVDs, dual layer and copy protected and I want to make straight copies of them on to dual layer media (for backup purposes).
Can any of you experts give me an idea as to what would be the best software for this purpose.
Thanks,
auldyin

There is a forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=9)for decrypting.

I don't think your allowed to be talking about copying copy protected media. We discuss the backup of copyrighted content daily, here. It's legal in most parts of the world to make a single copy of copyrighted content that you personally own. We also try to make the assumption that new members understand this and adhere to the digital agreement we've all signed before becoming members. I think you construed auldyin's goal as that of making copies of copies. I get the drift that he's in the process of learning how to backup his dual layer content to dual layer backup discs.
auldyin--Your title needs work, please edit. Instructions (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=811919#post811919)
As stated, DVDDecrypter will do the job, and there's an entire sub-Fora dedicated to its use with an active membership. And, as always, the search button is your best friend. It won't talk back, nor will it give you instructions. ;)

Is this not a cross-posting of this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=14062), albeit more than four years later?

Yep - 4 years probably is enough time to learn how to use the search feature.

hey come on guys, lets cut auldyin a bit of slack. the fact they signed up 4 years ago has little bearing on the frequency of visits since joining ... it is similar to the whole "number of posts does not equal knowledge" philosophy ;)
and for the record i do not think that this is at all a cross-post of that thread. for a start dual layer media wasn't even avaliable then ....

No trouble, but do edit your thread's title.
Did you solve your problem?

Problem solved. Thanks!
Incidentally ammck55, what would your thread title have been.....?

It says in the rules that you shouldnt have a title like "noob needs some help" or something like that, which you did. Something like
"How to Copy Copy-Protected DVD's" would be better.

Good to hear you solved your problem, why not let us in on how you accomplished this?
Thread titles?
Backing up my collection to dual layer media?
Dual layer to dual layer backups?
DVD9 to dual layer backup?
How to back up to dual layer?
Free beer!
"Free beer" would probably get the most looks, but you might get sued. For cryin' out loud, pick one (or author your own) and edit the darned thing. ;) My gentle urging has been about allowing you the autonomy to edit your own title and not force a mod to do it. Or, just get disinterested and blow it off....

Hi ammck55,
Thanks for advice.
As far as resolution of problem is concerned, just followed Guide on how to use DVDDecrypter and everything functioned without difficulty.
With that sorted out I can now look at other processes and no doubt, look for advice from you guys on the forum.
Thanks!

you still didn't edit your title

Ah, but he tried!
Auldyin--A thread's title is taken from the first post to the thread, you added a title to the last post you'd made. :) Thanks for the effort, I'm sure your future threads will have sterling titles.
