OK, i have a diamond extreme video capture card for cable TV and i want to be able to capture, edit the commercials out, and then put on DVD. I run DVD Shrink and Nero.6.1.2. not great with computers, but i figure with the knowledge here i can get it done. I am one that needs programs that are simple to use.

hi sledhead,
have you tried looking at any of the capture guides?
doom9 capture guides (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/capture.htm)
or browsing through the capture forum?
Capturing Video (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=10)
if you get stuck using a particular method it is a lot easier to provide assistance than if you have not performed any research at all.

Assuming your video card captures to MPEG2 on your PC? Make sure it captures in a DVD-compliant manner e.g. 720x480 or 352x480.
Then you need an MPEG2 editor; I like VideoReDo Plus to take-out commercials in a frame-accurate manner.
If you output from VRD+ as "Elementary Streams" all you need is the freeware MuxMan .15 to make a VIDEO_TS fileset you can burn with your Nero.
