View Full Version : DivX 6.2 configuration through Gordian Knot 0.35.0

Hello!

I've tried with DivX 6.2 and Gordian Knot 0.35.0 and when I go to the "Options" tab and click on "First Pass" button (in "DivX 5 default codec settings" section), there is an error: "Floating point division by zero".

I know Auto Gordian Knot will not support DivX 6 anymore, but I still could use Gordian Knot to encode videos in DivX 6.1.1. So I won't be able to do that anymore?

Thank you very much.

Open an avs script first...

Same problem here but opening .d2v doesn't help :(

I confirm that is the case. So with the release of DIVX6.2, GK is completely dead now!!!

I think it is due to the inconsistancy of the way DIVX6.2 stores the configuration. It seems that the deveolpers of DIVX want to kill (auto)GK for good.

but GK NOT

so... what to do ?

GK is open source , can you modify the source ?
or try another program :)

I'll check GK sources tonight. I suspect some troubles with DivX registry...

[edit]Problem comes from IConfigure...erff

Open a d2v file first...
Kurtnoise13, it was never necessary to open a d2v file to configure the codec settings defaults before...

I've tested DivX 6.2 with Dr. DivX 2.0 OSS beta 9 and it works fine.

Yes...sorry (I'd say .avs instead of .d2v) but why configure divx settings in first ?

I just checking with more details and it seems that GK can't open the VFW interface with this last codec release but it works fine with the 6.1. So, create your avs script with GK and use VDM directly. That's the solution or use an other tool.

btw, this is not GK fault...

why configure divx settings in first
Because that is the moment to set the defaults with which I want to encode all the videos. If I want to change them later, I'll do it with the other option (when you select the audio streams and have the ability of change the defaults in the video codec).

So, create your avs script with GK and use VDM directly.
What does VDM mean? If I load a AVS script instead of a D2V project I won't have this problem?

VDM = VirtualDubMod

Can anyone fix GordianKnot?

and, yes, this is strange... if an avs script is opened everything is ok, otherwise - error

Oh, OK!

I wish someone fixes it! Gordian Knot is my favourite encoding tool.

You could use Divx 6.2 beta 1 (v6.2.0.11), before vfw interface change , it works fine in GK 35.

as DigitAl56K said the CLI string changes were unavoidable in order to add new features.

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=812720#post812720

Therefore, the only option is to modify the GK source or use XVID instead ATM.

Good news is that AutoGK 0.27 is still OK with DIVX 6.2 although I have not tested myself.

It does, I tried it before DivX 6.2 final was released.

It is, but I like setting all the available options of the codec :(

As I said previously, this is not a GK issue otherwise all divx releases can't be used with it (even xvid and x264). Problem comes from the last divx vfw interface. Mainly the call function...

If DIVX has to be what it is now, how can we get GK take DIVX 6.2(even 6.2.1)?

Kurtnoise
13th April 2006, 18:25
By rebuilding the DivX interface (i.e create a new form reproducing exactly the same divx settings)...just a suggestion. ;)

Although - to my opinion - Xvid is on the right track, DivX is still the mainstream highway for the majority of users.
Nevertheless this issue cannot be fixed by a "normal" PC user. Can anyone of the Developer Team fix this?

May as well use Dr. Divx to use 6.2 with.

So why is it possible to launch the DivX 6.2 encoder window through VDubMod?

namchik, you're right! Now it works fine!! Thank you very much. I didn't realize there was a new version because "DivX 6.2" still appears in the DivX site, but when you download the bundle, it says "DivX 6.2.1".

Probably because they don't use the same function to call vfw configuration settings.

It works fine if you just set the DivX settings in the codec via the First pass and Nth pass buttons on the encode screens

No dont use that, its waaay to slow and worse quality
