The title is quite appropriate. Fun trying to rip an image. DVD Shrink says "Invalid DVD Structure", and won't even attempt to open it. Sony's obviously found a new way to play games. The solution I found that worked, was run it through Vob Blanker, then Shrink, and burn. I did get a message at VTS_03, between 01/06 and 02/01 saying "no NAVS found outputing a blank cell". So far, it doesn't appear to affect anything, but I haven't finished the burn. If it's a problem, I'll post back.

With the lengthy code that was left how do I use it in psl2 to get the same results.Although I have downloaded the pgc edit program and the plugin I had never had to use it before so I don't have any clue as to how to implement the code.In other words what simple steps do I follow?

@urpresident - you can either follow the wizard (from PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html)'s menu: Plugins, PSL2, Wizard) or copy seatrip's PSL (assuming it works - I wouldn't know) as a textfile (name it XXX.PSL) and import it into DVD Decrypter via the menu (File, Protected Sectors list, import).

Click "Kill ARCCOS" in my signature for a guide to using the plugin. It looks long, but is mostly pictures.

@urpresident

Hi!

This is how to use a PSL2 file:

1) Open DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (Set to "Select ALL files", NOT just "movie files")

2) Load the DVD into DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4

3) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Protected Sectors List" - and select "Import" (First save, as a text file named DickJanePSL2.txt, the file I've listed above)

4) Select the PSL2 file (DVD Decrypter will generate an "Accepted" notification)

5) Then use DVD Decrypter as you normally would to rip the DVD

folloowed the instructions (thanks! you guys are awesome!) but now shrink is freakin out..

it will not let me change the compression ratio..i even go to re-author, and it shows (2) main titles that are about identical size, but neither will play int he preview..and also cannot change compression ratio there either..

anyone have a clue as to what might be happening..? i have no errors..just nothing is "working"..

Ripped with the latest version of DVD Fab Decryptor, no issues.
Then used Nero Recode, blanked out the full screen version.
Works great.

do not think it is copy protection as more as bad dvds. I have several read errors in different places and pgcedit/psl method does not fix this.

i re-did the instructions from above..everything seemed fine this time as well..

went to shrink and re-author..still will not allow me to change the compression percentage..so i just selected the main title and hit the back-up button and then burned it..

it is on there..shrink will open up the "new" disk..but i cannot get any of my soft dvd players to play it..not even windows media player..

but i can watch it all day using the tiny little preview window in shrink...

and Zimmy..i used the newest DVDFab as well..it cratered in the 6's section every time..i wish i knew how you got yours to work..:)

Birdie, a suggestion, if I may. DL the trial of AnyDVD, and then rip with shrink. I made a second backup, after the original posting problems. Worked just fine, and I could reauthor, and recompress to my hearts delight

Good luck,

What seams to be the problem with the wizard?
Have you tried in advanced mode??

No, I probably would of done that next, but his was a quicker solution. Since I only need the main movie, I do not need to do the latter steps in the wizard.

The "remove crap" function and the FixVTS/VobBlanker cleaning are essential, in order to completely remove the protection...

You can use the wizard with the ripped files, directly from step 3...

What was the problem with the wizard, in the first place??

Well I went into the first step where it sets the retry to 0 and begins the rip. I did this hitting abort every time the read error would pop up (3 times I beleive). Then the wizard saved the psl2 file. Decrypter restarted and even using my created psl2 file it failed at the same point (ie got read error). At first I thought a bad disk, but by using the psl2 file above it works. I have already extracted the main movie using recode and burns fine.

edit: I may have missed using the menu to import the psl2 file before I tried to rip the second time :p

Anyways I think all copy protection is removed because of recode regenerating the vobs and ifos.

If it is not allowed here, then maybe in Digital Digest 's DVD Decrypter dedicated forum...

Patience my Son, and all will be revealed to you. Go into device manager, uninstall your DVD burner, next go to ATA Contorollers, and uninstall the channel your burner is on. Reboot. After everything has reinstalled itself, it will want to reboot itself again. Do it. After that, everything should be OK.

Good luck, again,

I am having nothing but problems with Dick and Jane. I can't even analysis it with shrink, I get error: cannot continue. data error (cyclic redundancy check) I tried pgcedit and when dvd decrypt opened I got this error: disk authenication failed.
Device 1:1:0 then a bunch of jibberish symbols.
Failed to decrypt disk key. Then I get a box that says encryption detected this disk is not supposed to be protected by css/cppm so this is somewhat strange would you like to try to decrypt the encrypted data. If I click yes then it proceeds.
I tried the posted files by setarip_old, do you import the files posted into dvd decrypter while using pgcedit or to use dvd decrypter alone?

Once you have it decrypted (with the PSL2 file) run it thru FixVTS (www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS). All will be OK.

Hi!

1) Open DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (Set to "Select ALL files", NOT just "movie files")

2) Load the DVD into DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4

4) Select the PSL2 file (DVD Decrypter will generate an "Accepted" notification)

5) Then use DVD Decrypter as you normally would to rip the DVD

OK, I'm lost. What exactly am I saving as a text file? I open dycrypter in file mode and it selects all files except 3 which are vts_19_0.ifo , vts_19_0.vob , and vts_19_0.bup.

Now I'm confused on what to do next.??? Can anyone help? Thanks

EDIT: OK, I seeI have to copy that big file in the other post as .txt. Duh!!! :)

Folow the links and guide from bultach's thread, he went to all of effort. PGCedit's PLS2 Plugin works on both ARcoOS and Rip Guard titles. The PSL2 file is only created if it is ARcoOS protected, but even after all the files are ripped, they need to be cleaned in step three of the wizard and so far FixVTS has worked for me but VOB blanker is and option if FixVTS doesn't.

Good Luck

dc45 - That's good to hear. I find that PGCedit's PSL2 Plugin Wizard in conjunction with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter (Write to ISO and the Burn with) works great for me. I end up with clean rips for both DVDs and to use with Auto GK to creat AVIs.

Have a good day.

Hey, I saw in a post somewhere about AnyDvd. You guys should check it out. Install AnyDvd and run it, yes, just open it up and run it in the background.

Then open up DVD Shrink and the movie will show up as not copyrighted and you will be able to shrink it to an .iso or however you do it.

It is so much easier and much more efficient than DVDDecrypter, I can't believe it. Coolness!!!!

I now have Dick and Jane. Had a problem when mounting this image on a virtual drive then trying to play it with PowerDVD. Must be another Sony trick, burnt it and it came up fine on my dvd. Also played fine using Windows media player on my pc after mounting it to a virtual drive.

I did not seem to find it hard to rip Dick in Jane. ARccOS were being used on 4 of the VTS's. I just made a psl2 file and DVDD ripped with no problems as always. I can't bring myself to buying software when freeware works just as good or if not better in most cases.

It is great it worked for you. I know 3 people including myself who it didn't work for, so if you have a special trick ie: software, steps you used, can you share?

I create my own psl files, but you can get the PSL2 Plugin here (http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/PgcEdit_install.exe) and guides on how to use it here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?f=79). The plugin will create a psl2 file for you. I recommend to use the wizard and phase 1 of the plugin. Everything will done be automatically for you. Just follow the prompts.

@cperrywebrat

Don't know what to tell you. It works fine for me other than I made my own psl file which basically the same and I used the advanced mode of the plugin to remove the crap and FixVTS to cleanup the vob's.
I can tell you this much that the plugin will not work properly if you have AnyDVD, DVD43 or a region free program running in the background. Also DVDD settings need to be set to default since the plugin makes a few changes of the settings for the rip.

I would have posted this sooner, but you can't post for 5 days after registering for this forum.

I've been using AnyDVD running, and just copy all the files in the VIDEO_TS folder straight from the DVD disc to my hard drive and then use CloneDVD and Nero to burn. Alot of times now I have AnyDVD running and use CloneDVD to pull the files strait off the DVD and edit out previews, etc. at the same time and then I like to use Nero to burn with.

AnyDVD version 5953 worked on Dick and Jane as well as Memiors of a Geisha and alot of other newer Sony discs. CloneDVD version 2892 works fine.

The version of AnyDVD I'm using seems to work great, no problems. An older version, like a couple versions ago was working up until Dick and Jane and I had to get a newer version.

You should be able to use CloneDVD directly with the disc in 99.9% of cases as long as you're using both up to date AnyDVD (currently 5.9.5.6) and CloneDVD (currently 2.8.9.2). If you ever have a problem with that combination, email your IFO files to Slysoft support and they'll likely have a new version of AnyDVD to fix the problem within a couple hours. I fully appreciate the idea of burning the output of CloneDVD with something other than ClonDVD(I use CopyToDVD myself). It's nice to have a great solution that simply works. :)

What tools do you have available? I've read about some people having badly pressed originals that had to get them replaced before they could copy it successfully. But the PSL2 plugin, DVD Fab Decrypter, AnyDVD, or DVD95Copy shouldn't have any problems with this title if you have one of the good discs that don't contain mastering errors.

Thanks everyone for your help. The psl2 file works fine, but I ran in DVD Shrink, it only gave me the previews, extras, and the ending part of the movie. I did not get the whole movie. When Shrink was done processing, the file was only over one thousand mb size. Any suggestions ??

No need to multiple post. Just run the wizard. Update your files.
