I recently used rebuilder to work on Dances With Wolves. Without realizing, I had unchecked subtitles and the scenes with the Indian dialog now contain no translations! Is it possible merge the original subs from my original disks into the now re-encoded copies? I did some menu work and added in extras from another version of the movie, and don't want to have to redo it all again. Never worked with subs before, so any help will be appreciated!

Do you have a "Movie Only" DVD or you have a full backup?
If you have a Movie only you can use this:
http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=12
If you have a Full Backup take a look at the Subtitles section of this forum... I think there's a guide made by 2Cool that can help you with that.

it is pretty easy to add the subs back in.
I assume you have the original unencrypted video_ts folder (vob and ifo files) lying somewhere. Also you are going to have to demux the video and audio files of the rebuilder dvd as well. When you demux the streams make sure you have infoedit chapter selection in dvd decrypter set for the chapter points.
get vobsub and install,
1.) you are going to open the original dvd with the subtitles using vobsub. open vob configure. click open, select from file type, select ifo and vobs.
2.) select ifo file from original dvd where the movie resides and select folder where you want the .sub and .idx files.
3.) get SubtoSup and open the .idx file, open the idx file and it will separate all the subtitles on the dvd into the sup format.
4.) remux the video and audio files of your rebuilder dvd files using infoedit in the dvd author menu selection, Author New Dvd. You may have to use ac3 delay corrector to set the delay to 0ms or make sure to set the proper delay in audio if any. select your audio, video and the subtitle sup file you want.
5.) you will get movie only with the subtitles in a funky colour.
6.) get vob blanker, open your new rebuilder dvd, select the video_ts file. select an output folder. In the title set select the largest vts file. below that select the pgc entry that corresponds to your movie it will be the one with the largest duration.
7.) select that pgc entry that corresponds to your movie then on the left hand side select REPLACE and then select the .ifo file of the movie only files with the new subtitles. Click process.
8.) vobblanker will replace the new movie with subtitles.
9.) you rebuilder dvd will now have the original dvd subtitles put back in but the color will be funky or green.
10.) open the original dvd in infoedit and select VTS_01_0.IFO or whatever the movies is in and VTS_PGCITI and then VTS_PGC1 from the infoedit menu SUBTITLE COLOR, copy colours from this pgc.
11.) open the the new movie with the replaced subtitles and select the .ifo file and select VTS_PGCITI and then VTS_PGC1 and from menu, paste colors into this pgc.
12.) save ifo file. your new dvd will now have the proper subtitle colors in the dvd.
did you process the dvd removing the subtitles buttons ? you will have to use the remote in selecting subtitles if you did.
you may have to use pgc edit to fix some minor issues.
you can use the same method to add subtitles from any
language using dvd lab pro and subtitles that are in text format and replacing the original movie with the vobblanker with the new subtitles and you also keep the menu.
