Hi folks,
There is an application at my work that we are storing mpeg2 Transport Stream (from security camera) with open GOP on our disk array. The rate is about 4Mpbs and it is just eating up too much disk space. I am thinking about the following ways to reduce the disk usage but the goal is to still have a playable TS. Any suggestions and comments on how to do the following if it is possible?
1. using something like gopchop on TS to chop off every other GOP, however since it is open gop, will the resulting TS still playable?
2. shrink the size of the current D1 to lower, this might need to recompile the whole TS, can this be done in real time?
3. keep all the I frame and purge all other frames, can the resulting TS still playable?
Please help.
Thx,
Tie.
