Hi!i have a problem with shrink.my decrypter works fine, but when i run shrink it analyzes and when i click the back up button the hour glass just runs and the window disappears
1) Have you previously used DVD Shrink successfully?
2) What is the SPECIFIC name of the "decrypter" program you are using (There are several with similar names)?
3) What is the Title and Region number of your original, purchased DVD that you're trying to copy?

flyboy--Edit the title of your thread so that it properly reflects the nature of your issue. Find the "Edit" button at the bottom of your first post, make the necessary change/s, then "save" these changes.
A proper thread title will entice more interest; at least it should....

1) Are you using "DVDFab Decrypter" or, is it perhaps, "DVD Decrypter"?
2) What's the Title and Region number of the DVD you're trying to copy?

Appropriate title edit. Good job.
Please supply the title of the disc you're having problems with, in some cases, there are known issues with a specific title.
The Shrink GUI just disappears without throwing an error? That's strange and might indicate a corrupted install, or a virus running around your system. Install a fresh instance of Shrink and scan your system; at the least, we can remove those scenarios via the elimination process.
If you've a good, clean install of Nero, it won't be the problem, either. Are you trying to send your .ISO file straight to the burner? If so, try selecting the option to send the .ISO to a folder you've created just for your Shrink rips, and send it to the burner from there.
VHS to DVD? The easiest solution is to purchase a DVD recorder that can automate the process once you've got it installed and ported properly. If you want/need more specific information, crank up a fresh post and ask the guys in the Capture Forum for some help. Ask nicely. :)

I have not seen the movie titled "Rent", and I'm quite sure you're not talking about a rented movie, as that would violate our Forum Rules, and the Announcement at the top of the Noobs page. Take a spin around those two doc's and get familiar with how things work here at Doom9.
Do your research and post back; if you supply details and hang in there, we'll hang in there with you, too.

Great! Now we're all on the same page....almost.
The "Title" of your disc is just that, the "Region" is which of the six world-wide regions that your player/disc has been coded to allow playback. Here's a link to the Wikipedia definiton of Region Codes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD#Region_codes), the main gist of which is this. Each DVD-Video disc contains one or more region codes (sometimes called zones), denoting the area(s) of the world in which distribution and playback are intended. The commercial DVD-Video player specification dictates that a player must only play discs that contain its region code. In theory, this allows the motion picture studios to control the various aspects of a release (including content, date and price) on a region-by-region basis. In practice, many DVD players allow playback of any disc, or can be modified to do so. Entirely independent of encryption, region coding pertains to regional lockout, which originated in the video game industry.
Here's a sample of how you might supply us with information in order to better help you. Tell us about the source, the software, and the workflow:
I'm trying to backup "Rent", Region 1. I'm using DVDDecrypter x.x.x to decrypt, then DVD Shrink x.x.x to create my .ISO, then burning with Nero x.x.x (X's denote the software's version number; not 100% necessary, but let's go all the way since we've started). These are the problems that I'm encountering...(and the error messages, or lack of).
Too much information has roughly the same properties as beer and beautiful women: Too much is not enough, and likely never will be. :)
You're doing fine. Have you been able to find your problem in the meantime, or are you still jammed up?

That's great! Just out of curiosity, what have you learned during the process of tracking down and fixing this problem?

@flyboy3495i uninstalled nero 6.6 and installed 6.0 and it works now.Although it's good to hear that things are now working properly for you, be advised that v.6.0.xxx of NERO is extremely "buggy".
If you find that it causes you problems, I'd suggest you uninstall it and reinstall your v.6.6.xxx. Confusing as that may sound, chances are, if you had originally just uninstalled v.6.6 and DVD Shrink, rebooted, reinstalled v.6.6, rebooted, and then reinstalled DVD Shrink (NERO MUST be installed before DVD Shrink), things would work properly for you...

wow! and i have learned if you ask the right question the right way its pretty obvious you well get the right answer.
dont be lazy THINK.anyway you must be right, backed up
few titles and got INVALID DATA VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB
when trying to back up a region 1 chronicles of narnia.
any ideas?

There are several approaches to backing up ...Narnia in this thread (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=64457&page=2), run some tests and report back if you can't get 'er done.
DVDFab Decrypter straight out of the box might do this for you.

got INVALID DATA VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB when trying to back up a region 1 chronicles of narnia. You are describing a DVD Shrink error notification. This has nothing to do with NERO.
"Chronicles of Narnia" (A Disney release) contains "RipGuard" copy protection, which can readily be addressed by:
Using DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (Select "ALL files, NOT just "movie" files)to rip to your hard drive - and then loading your hard drive rip into VOBBlanker (select "Process ALL"), setting a new output file location for the new VOBBlanker-fixed files - and pressing the "Process" radiobutton.
DVD Shrink should readily accept the new VOBBlanker-fixed files for input and processing...
