Opv + Vbr ?

Hi,

Is it possible to put on RB the OPV+VBR method (RoBa) with CCE like the plugin D2SRoba by tylo does?

I use a easy method:

First: i prepare and encode with OPV. If the size and the Q level is ok then i rebuild it and finish, but if Q is high or the size isn't good then...

Second: i begin a new project (changing the work and destination folders) and i use the same settings as OPV but only i change the OPV for VBR. After i start "prepare" in the new folder.
Before encoding, i copy *.vaf from OPV-project to VBR-project and i edit the rebuilder.ecl and change all create_new_vaf=1 for create_new_vaf=0. When i start to encode, CCE must use the OPV vaf and directly encode the m2v.

Actually the existing OPV prediction routine is quite similar to the DSRoba technique. I wrote it with quite a bit of consulting with tylo. If, however, you are going to do a second pass -- it is my personal opinion that it is better to use standard two-pass encoding as opposed to an OPV first pass followed by a VBR second pass. The allocation characteristics might be quite different between the two.

Well,

When i tryed this method, i did some tests.
I compared 4 results from a film with difficult encoding (War of the Worlds).
First OPV, after OPV+1VBR, 2passVBR (1+1) and last 5 pass VBR (1+4).
Analizing stadistics and graphics with Bibrateview and looking for enconding defects, i think OPV+1VBR is better (in this case), because the statistics (levels of quantisation and distribution of bitrate) and the defects were the same as 5passVBR, but opv+vbr took much less time.
