I purchased the new Harry Potter movie and wanted to backup my collection of Harry Potter movies. I used a Liteon 16x dL burner for the disks. Programs used were DVDecrypter, CloneDVD2, and AnyDVD. The single layer discs play on my computer and a dvd player attached to my HDTV. The DL disc (The Goblet of Fire) of the latest movie plays on the computer but not on the TV. I would like to know if it is possible to remedy this. Thanks for the help.

Hi!The DL disc (The Goblet of Fire) of the latest movie plays on the computer but not on the TV.What software and procedures did you use to create the DL burned DVD?
What brand and format of burnable media did you use?

I used DVD Decrypter, AnyDVD, or DVD Shrink to decode and copy the disc to the hard drive. I used Region Free to check for various forms of protection previous to burning. To burn the disc, I used CloneDVD2. Media used was from Fuji or Verbatim, DVD+DL. :thanks:

1) "Goblet of Fire" (Region 1) contains no special/newer copy protection. Therefore, the only ripping software you should use is DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4, set to "Read ISO". If you've left DVD Decrypter's setting at their defaults, performing a "Read ISO" will create both an .ISO image file and an (important) ".MDS" companion information file on your hard drive.
2) Then use DVD Decrypter (or IMGBurn) to "Write ISO" (burn the DVD) - and select the ".MDS" file rather than the .ISO file.
3) Based on postings at this and many other forums (and my own personal experience), it appears that PRESENTLY the only consistently reliable DL burnable media continues to be Verbatim DL DVD+R
**EDIT**
A) If available for your burner, turn on "bitsetting" when you burn DL+R media (any +R media for that matter) - Some burners do this automatically for DL DVD+R media
B) Not all standalone DVD players recognize DL burned media. If you DL burns continue to not play on your standalone DVD player, check them on other players (Take one with you to an electronics store)...

Thank you for the suggestions. I have burned a disc successfull using your direction and will probably have to check out other dvd players as suggested. I also am somewhat behind on knowledge regarding dl recording technology. I have used one-stop backing up/recording programs because they take all the guess work out of the process. I travel continuously for work and do not have much time to experiment with lots of alternative programs. Is there any compiled articles/books you can recommend for me to use as resource material?
Thanks again

Thank you for the suggestion. I am going to check out the program you suggested. I remember when single layer disc recording was new and one had to experiment with whatever was available under the sun to make recordings. I did not think it would be that way with DL recording too. Thanks again!!
