Hello. Although this is related to decrypting & shrinking as well as a thread about the movie Capote (that I am trying to figure out) I will stay in the Newbies forum.
First I will start with the basics. I have deleted all of the junk on my p.c. so I have room (my usual problem). I have downloaded DVD Fab as well as Magic to decrypt. I have ripped the movie & have a couple files, but cannot open them with Shrink.
Here is the Error report I get-
1. Failed to read file "C:\Documents and steeings\owner\my documents\DVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.VOB" Invalid access to memory location.
2. Failed to open file: "C:\DVDFabdecrypter_temp|DVD\VIDEO_TS.IFO" The system cannot find the file specified
3. (E:) - Invalid DVD navagation structure
- VIDEO_TS same as above.

Okay, I went to open images next.
DVD.ISO - invalid UDF filesystem.
.ISO - This is supposed to be the main movie & it is 1,352MB. I watched the preview & it was the making of the movie & not the main movie.
What am I doing wrong this time? How do I fix it? I am way in over my head with this one. I looked all around the forum for a solution & found a few things but thought it way beyond me.
I saw this question posted & will ask also. Why do some people have no problems & others do?
Hope you can help me out here. You may have to walk me through step by step. LOL!

Thank you!

Your posting is unclear. Is it "Capote" that you're having this problem with? If so:

This is how to use a PSL2 file:

1) Open DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 in "File" mode (Set to "Select ALL files", NOT just "movie files")

2) Load the DVD into DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4

3) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Protected Sectors List" - and select "Import"

4) Select the PSL2 file (DVD Decrypter will generate an "Accepted" notification)

5) Then use DVD Decrypter as you normally would to rip the DVD

Here are links to two different versions of PSL2 files for use with "Capote" Region 1. if your DVD is Region 1, see which one works for you:

Hi. I tried to import the file (I did extract it) and my p.c. said the file not found. The 2nd link/attachment is on am email & I can't open that one. Lol! I just can't get things to work out for me! What do I do now?
Yes, it is Region 1.
I did download in File mode & tried to open & it came with an error message....VTS_01_6.VOB". (same as before).
I will try again to access the PSL2 file. I'll let you know if it works.

Copy the entire listing I've provided to you, Starting with "PSL2" and ending with "6:1,1,20,4,0" and save it as a text file.

THEN

RE-Read Link #2, above in this thread.

Aha! I found it, I imported it & it's working! Thank you for being so very patient & helpful. Will I need to search for links with every new Sony dvd?
Where do these links come from? Is there a genius who is working on this in cyberland? However it's done, it sure is good to know that there is help.

Thanks again!
(I'm sure I'll be back again!) Ha,ha!

Thank you for being so very patient & helpful. As always, my pleasure ;>} Will I need to search for links with every new Sony dvd?Based on your apparent level of knowledge regarding DVD "ripping", I'd suggest that the simplest and most effective route for you to follow would likely be the use of a commercial "one-click" solution. My personal favorite is DVD95Copy...

DVD Shrink could not open anything. I was successful with the decrypter but not the shrink. Hmm.I knew it wouldn't be that easy for me. lol!
I will now go through my p.c. & delete all files & etc. & will start over...again. If you can think of anything that may help DVD Shrink open the data, please let me know.

Thanks!

Thank you for the advice. I think that would be my best bet. Lol! I have been doing this for quite a while but...I'm not very good at it.

Thanks again!

If you can think of anything that may help DVD Shrink open the data, please let me know.
1) Load the hard drive (ripped) version into VOBBlanker

2) Set VOBBlanker to "Process all files"

3) Set a NEW output file location - and Press the "Process" radiobutton.

4) Load the files created in the NEW output file location into DVD Shrink

A Google search for the title plus "psl2" will find what you need, but at the moment it appears that Sony will no longer be using the ARccOS protection scheme in future DVD releases.

Or you could do this all automatically, without the need for a commercial solution by using the PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) wizard - see Kill ARccOS in my signature.
