I'm trying to backup my son's "sponge bob" DVD (He already damaged two DVD's..an are not cheap, so before it damage the rest I would like to have a copy..) So I was checking your forums and follow instructions, but here is what I have a problem: I used DVD Shrink 3.2 and Imgburn 1.2, The DVD shinks finished leaving an ISO file on my C:// and after that the Imgburn kicks automatically it detects the ISO file but I got a message "Device not ready (Medium not Present - Tray closed), and in fact the computer detects the unit and it work fine backing up another files.. here is the log:
I 10:58:46 ImgBurn Version 1.2.0.0 started!
I 10:58:46 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2)
I 10:58:46 Initialising SPTI...
I 10:58:46 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
I 10:58:46 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD+RW!

Can some one tell me what's wrong? or if I can use another software (I have Nero 6) and I can copy the ISO file to a DVD but then what I should do? :helpful:
Thanks in advance for your help.

Try using DVD Decrypter to rip the file before burning with ImgBurn. As long as there's no copy protection like RipGuard or ARccOS, there are no extra steps other than ripping and burning.

Compression, using DVD Shrink or similar, will also be necessary if "Kike06" is attempting to backup a DVD9 to DVD5 burnable media...

When I get that message I see that the dvd-rom is selected and not the rw drive. I then select the rw drive and everything is fine.

I use DVD Shrink to create the ISO image. Then I use DVD Decryptor to burn it to a DVD. I dont use ImgBurn..not sure why its saying no media in the drive, unless you have the wrong drive selected...you do have a blank waiting in the DVD+R drive right? heheh

So to sum up:

Wrong drive selected
No media in drive
Media in drive is not supported by drive (or you need to eject + reinsert because the drive failed to recognise it the first time around).

Thanks to all for you replies, and sorry to anwer just now (I was away traveling). I was able to copy the DVD, the "problem" was that I was using a blank DVD-R, I purchased the DVD+RW, and it worked. I have a Laptop so it was not an issue of wrong selection for a drive.
I have another question, I was using the same DVD shrink 3.2 to do the same with another DVD, but when I Clicked on the "backup" button to start the process, the program just dissapear..I re-start my laptop ans startd again the process but it is happening the same, what could be happening?

Thanks.
