View Full Version : Stream switching in matroska?

I have several trailers I want to mux into a matroska container. Is it possible using some of the more advanced features to make a matroska file that automatically switches the audio track to the associated audio track of any video track selected (using Haali splitter)? I don't want to append the tracks together cos some are 4:3 and some 16:9. Am I just dumb or is this not possible with matroska? Making a menu is not an option for now.

You can append them if they use the same codec.

I tried it but if the first stream's ar is 4:3, the rest of the streams, the 16:9 ones, get stretched to that and vice versa. I left the ar box empty in mmg, I presume it reads the ar from the files? Forgot to clarify that they are mpeg-2 files...

We have plans to make something called track grouping to enable that. But it hasn't been added yet.

That sounds very good indeed :) As I see it, it would enable true multi-track matroska containers (which is what the topic of this thread should've referred to now that I think of it). Now that's something worth waiting for!

I meant appending with ordered chapters, not with mkvmerge.

Oh sorry. It's one thing with matroska, it has all these great features but to laymen the technical documentation ain't saying much. Could you pinpoint me to a fairly simple example of using ordered chapters in matroska?

EDIT: Oh nevermind, found some practical information closer than I thought. Thanks :-)
