Hello, I just installed a driver for my dell usb hotkey keyboard, the volume keys work and increase/decrease the master volume perfectly. the only problem is that it seems all my programs that this feature would be handy for (winamp, mplayerclassic) have their own volume control independant of the master volume and work even when my soundcard control pannel shows the master volume is set to the lowest level. I messed around with the output of both winamp 2.91 and mplayerc 6.4.8.2 and nothing would allow my soundcard to regain control. i would like to have my master volume control control all volume that my soundcard outputs. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions... thanks

also when i go into my device manager, under sound video and game controllers i have
-Audio codecs
-Legacy Audio Drivers
-Legacy Video Capture Devices
-Media Control Devices
-Santa Cruz
-Santa Cruz Game Port
-Santa Cruz WDM Interface
-Video Codecs

*I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 40 Video card...

is it normal to have all that?

It may be a function of the Dell keyboard or drivers which redirect the control to the application's volume instead of the master. I have a Zboard, and with no drivers installed it manipulates only the master volume (I use the very same Santa Cruz sound card). I doubt it's any problem with the audio device or its drivers. I would recommend that you right-click the blue audio properties tray icon and select Close, which will restore the Windows one. All your other functions and settings will be retained, and you'll have all the same controls with Windows Volume Control. I've always had issues with sliders not retaining their positions until I did that.

Yes, the list under Device Manager is correct.

thanks for the help, I was playing around with the santa cruz control panel and switching my audio out from digital out to analog out solved the problem. I guess it would be nice to have digital out on but i cant really tell the difference so i guess anolog out will just have to do. thanks for your time.
