I know this has probably been discussed already, but is procoder better than CCE sp in reguards to quality? And how much slower is it? Thanks, look forward to your inputs!

Asking whats better.... I can't tell you whats better nor can anyone else.... what looks good to you might not look good to me.
Both encoders work will and have both Pro's and Con's. CCE SP is almost 2.5x's faster on my pc and the qual is great where as Procoder 2 seems to do a little better at low bitrate but is much slower.

Lots of debate over that one. From my testing it appears that ProCoder does a little more softening of the picture. To a lot of people that is considered to be better than the alternative which is a higher liklihood of artifacts. Others would argue that they'd rather keep CCE for the additional detail.
It's all a matter of taste. But one thing I can say very definitely -- they are both extremely high-quality encoders.

The real test factor is the eyes. It makes me laugh to see people say that one encoder is better than the other. I mean really how can anyone say that for someone else? I personally prefer Pro Coder for the Bigger Films and CCE for the Films that are just above 5 and a half GB or so. Until I can see with your eyes and have your personal preferences of what is "best" then that question can never really be answered. If you have both then just do a test with different material and let YOUR eyes, not someone else's be the judge.
They are both awesome so you are in a win win situation. :sly:
