I've just upgraded from version 1.25 but I've got a minor problem. When I play back a widescreen AVI that I've enocded with 2.27 on a 4:3 display I get what I can only describe as interference at the top of the bottom letterbox border, just where the border touches the picture. Basicaly the edge of the border. It makes the top/edge of the border have like an electronic spike like interference to it. I'm sorry I don't know how else to discribe it. It basically stops the border from looking solid. I dont get this problem with version 1.25. does anyone know how to correct this? Like I said it is a minor problem but somewhat irritating.
Thanks. :)

I've found some differences between versions.
When i encode one of my DVD's to AVI with version 1.25 i get 650mb video at 1403 kbps, 50 audio at 130kbps and quality at 53%
However when i use version 2.27 i get 659 video at 1423 kbps, 41mb audio at 105 kbps and quality at 48%
Now i know i'm getting a higher video bit rate with 2.27 but the quality is lower and the audio bit rate is lower.
Which would produce better overal video quality? The results i'm getting with 1.25 or the results i'm getting with 2.27.
Can somone please let me know? :)

Which looks better to you? That can be the only answer.

Hi,
I suppose you get your infos regarding bitrate and % from a proggy like video-info/video-inspector or another I don't remember the name :)
If so, your % is related to audio not video => 53%=130kbps, 48%=105kbps
Why? because since AGK 2.25 (See release notes), it uses the new lame 3.97 and it's new abr/vbr settings; the result is modified output birate; use search to find more on that.
So to get near 128kbps you need to input 144; near 144 input 160; more than 160 input 176 and so on.
IMO you will not "see" any differences between 1403/1423 kbps video (excepting artifacts you are pointing in your first post!). The question could be can you "hear" any differences between the 1.25 encode and the 2.27 one?
