Ok, first of all I'm new here so I may be asking about something that has been explained before. If so, please forgive the newbie.
I've been using DVD Shrink for some time now on my old computer. i just built a new computer running a 3800 processor, 600 gigs hard drive total, 1 gig ram, and twin dual layer 16x DVD dual format drives. my problem is since i build the new computer DVD Shrink is running alot slower than it did on my old system that had a 1800 processor. can't figure it out. also when i try to burn my Nero program will not start off of DVD shrink so i have to go through the back door and run Nero express to burn a DVD once DVD shrink has done it's job. all my setting are right. burn with Nero is checked but it won't.
I guess what I'm asking is , is there a DVD copy program that is as easy to use as DVD Shrink. I'm not great with computers and need something that will do the job without me getting lost in the process. i used to love DVD Shrink but as i type this i have been sending a movie through it and it has taken 1 hour and 20 minutes just to encode and shrink it. I could set and watch the movie in less time. that's not including burn time.
just to let you know, I'm using Nero 6.6.1.4 with DVD Shrink. and all is going through windows XP pro. My buffer stays around 50 - 55 mb.

after doing some searching ( I knew i should have done this first) i found that my secondary drive was on PIO instead of DMA so that speed up my DVD shrink. however i still have the problem with dvd shrink not opening nero. the error is as follows:

You could try CloneDVD by Slysoft or Nero Recode by Nero. I have been using the combination of AnyDVD and CloneDVD by slysoft and have been very pleased with the results.

also when i try to burn my Nero program will not start off of DVD shrinkNERO must be installed FIRST - and DVD Shrink installed AFTER you've installed NERO.
So uninstall both, reboot (cautionary) then reinstall NERO, reboot (cautionary), then reinstall DVD Shrink, and reboot (cautionary)...

Install v.6.6.0.18 to eliminate this problem. You can get it at:
http://www.digital-digest.com/~jmet/Nero6.6.0.18/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
... or lose nero all together :p
my personal favourite is to use imgtool classic and imgburn - both excellent freeware programs.
good luck

OK, i reinstalled Nero at 6.6.0.18 and then reinstalled DVD Shrink in that order. everything seems to be working in order now. i haven't had a chance to burn a disk yet. i will in a day or two.
thanks for everyone help and patience with the newbies. I'm sure i will have more questions before long..... I just got the Diamond extreme card and want to learn how to record, edit out commercials, and then burn to disk. that's another thread and i will post when i get that far. again thanks alot.

Hey,
I had the same problem which seemed to have developed after a power failure which took place when DVD shrink was running.
It took like 2hrs+ to encode ALONE and another hour to burn.
What i did was uninstalled DVD Shrink, uninstalled my DVD-Drive from device manager and restarted to detect the drive and re-install it. Then reinstalled DVD Shrink and the problem disappeared. Now DVD Shrink encodes and burns the DVDs under 40 mins. (The earlier time it used to take).
