View Full Version : Shrinking problem ?

I have been having problems with shrinking my dvd's. I think this is my problem but not sure. I am able to decrypt, & shrink (maybe) but when I try to burn, it says I do not have enough sectors on my disc. I am puzzled. Did the dvd shrink? I have not changed disc types & have had no previous problems.
So, is it not shrinking propperly? I have looked at the step by step guides for both decrypting & shrinking & could not find anything that had to do with "not enough sectors". This leads me to believe there is a glitch in my shrinking. I have tried to re-author, change from ISO to file, change from 4 to 9 (in the settings in shrink...I hope you know what I am talking about; I am really sorry about that). I even downloaded Magic DVD thinking I could have a problem there. I am really at a loss as what I should do.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I am now going to split the dvd. There were 3.44 gb on the movie (main movie) alone. I just don't get it as I have 4.7 on my disc. I hate to split the movie, but...I'll do anything at this point. It's day 3 of messing around with dvd's! Arrgh!
Thanks!

change from 4 to 9Hopefully, you've changed this back, so that DVD Shrink is NOT thinking you want to burn DL (DVD9) media.

What is the EXACT wording of the "I do not have enough sectors on my disc" error message. I'm guessing you're actually being advised that you don't have sufficient space available on your harddrive. if this is, in fact, the case, free up hard drive space by emptying your "TEMP" (or "TMP") folder and your "Recycle Bin" - and, if you have Norton installed, empty ITS recycle bin as well..

Thank you for your reply. That doesn't seem to be the problem though. Here is the message that I get:
Not enough space on disc to burn this image.
Image size 3,738,117 sectors
Disc size 359,847 sectors

As I stated above, I have not changed discs & have had no previous problems burning. I hope this may help you to figure out what I should try next.
Thanks!

Disc size 359,847 sectorsAlthough I find it hard to believe, that sounds like you're either trying to use a blank CD rather than a blank DVD, or you're trying to re-use a DVD that had been previously used in multi-session mode (A "no-no" for DVD burning)...

I got it figured out! Thanks for all your help. Yep, you were right. I just needed to delete a lot of junk on my p.c. Sorry for all the troubles.

Thanks!
