Waitec Vision HTX firmware questions

Hi all. A long time ago I bought a Vision HTX SAP and it has always worked like a charm.
I've googled for a few days but I haven't found the infos i was looking for, so here I am:

The chipset is MT1389DE, and I already know what it can actually do with default firmware..
In particular, the chip can read mp3 and mp3pro audio with original firmware, but not AAC..
But in the list of extensions supported (ita doc (http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/showthread.php?t=903355&page=3)) the .AAC and .MP4 are there, ready to be used in theory..
So I just want to know if the chip itself can do the job and if someone else has found an unofficial firmware capable of reading .AAC files, and if that works good.

Just an additional question: what about mp3pro? I have a few LQ material from tvrips and it would be nice to save space (audio isn't really important for this stuff), but I'm not able to mux it in the right way.

PS: Waitec has never upgraded the firmware of the Vision HTX, but this isn't a problem, considering that the player works really good: my question isn't related to any hardware problem :)

Can you please confirm the exact make and model of your "Vision HTX" stand-alone player?

EDIT: I see, it's the Waitec Vision HRX

In "part answer" to your question, the MediaTek chip-set is capable of supporting AAC audio and the .MP4 container.

Personally, I don't know of any official AAC/MP4 firmware upgrades from player manufacturers, although some were rumoured a while ago (and even mentioned on some NeroDigital web site pages).

There are however, some unofficial AAC/MP4 upgrades out there for various makes/models of Mediatek chip-set players....

I'm sorry if I didn't write the brand in the title (just edited), it was a looooooog morning at work.
The SAP is Waitec HTX model, with MT1389DE. As you wrote, it could do the job but the official firmware doesn't

From the page I linked to, the chip itself can recognize those extensions:

AC3, MP3, MP2, MP1, WAV, JPG, MLP, WMA, ASF, MPG, DAT, VOB, DSD, MPE, M1V, M2V, JPE, AAC, MPEG, JPEG, PMF, CDA, AVI, VID, DIVX, QT, MOV, MP4, M4V, DST, OGG, OGM, RA, RM, RAM, RMM, RMVB

so:

- now you've confirmed me that I'm right, the SAP can in theory do the job (thanks)
- does anyone here know any website where I can search for another firmware? (I've searched before, but I've found only a german site and for me german it's like japanese..)

I think it's time to change both container and audio codec, but SAP compatibility is really important for me (well, with MY SAP of course :D )

PS: do you have a personal idea if MT1389DE is a "good" chip compared with the others on the market? I mean, I've read a lot of specs (also the 1st post in this section) but I'm still confused.

A few forum members have upgraded their Yamada 6700 MediaTek chip-set based players with unofficial firmware from NewAge (http://newage.mpeg4-players.info/).
