Have there been any tests conducted to determine the decoding speeds of different MPEG-2 direct-show filters?
What are forum users experiences with decoding high-def 1280x720 and 1920x1080 MPEG-2 sources?
Cheers

afaik dscaler is pretty fast. tough i have compared it with dgdecode for avisynth processing of dvds and there isnt really a big difference between the two

Are you of the opinion that no further speed improvements can be made with respect to decoding high-def MPEG-2 video?
Cheers
The Microsoft MPEG-2 decoder as of Vista build 5342 is pretty fast --using about 20% less CPU than NVIDIA's decoder with equivalent quality.
I don't particularly like DXVA decoding quality of my ATI 9800 card. I tend to use software decoding mode.
Dscaler has good quality, but I never got fast-fowarding or rewind to work.
