Hi,

was wondering if there is another way of getting DVD subtitles to SRT format, without using subrip. its an excellent program, but its very tiresome having to so many keys for each dvd. that wouldn't be too bad if i could fix a mistake in way other than starting again from scratch :(

any reliable, accurate method? thanks :)

Try using the character matrix from http://foxyshadis.slightlydark.com/random/CharMatrix.rar it will save you a lot of typing.
As for restarting each time you make a mistake, well... if you're using it correctly, you're not really typing anything again. Basically, you should be just fixing the mistake in the character matrix, and it usually takes less than a minute or so after a restart to get wherever you were before.
Use the latest version (1.50) and the new features, other people don't seem to have such a hard time.

But, since you're looking for alternatives, DVDSubEdit does OCR using gOCR. It has problems with diacritics and formatted text, but may suit you just fine.

Subresync from Vobsub package can be also an alternative..
