I'm running DVD-Rb ver. 1.09.2. I put together some home video's that were recorded from a vcr to a stand alone recorder. Transfered those vob's to hard drive. Ran them through Nero to join the vob's. DVD Shrink reports compression at 81% so I want to run it through Rebuilder. I ran the Prepare phase. I recieved a message stating "Detected no frames and/ or video to encode. Aborting."
What does that mean? It plays fine on my pc with Power DVD.

Post a listing of the contents of the source directory.

Is it in DVD format? Does it have the appropriate IFO files present? VOB files alone is not enough.

I have had the same problem doing home video's. I capture my videos to the hard drive with a Hauppauge PVR-250 in .mpg format then convert them to dvd with TMPEGnc DVD Author. I think the problem is the vob file size is to small and DVD Rebuilder ingnores them and you get the no frames error message.

Try setting the "hidden" setting that sets the minimum VOB size to zero so that ALL VOB's are processed regardless of size : vts_min_size=0

Also, if you have DVD2One (trial or full) and use the Join function to join all VOBs together, this will create the VOB files with all required IFO's

Or, use VOBMerge to create one big VOB file, then run that through IFOEdit to create the requited IFO files

(VOBMerge also has a good side effect in that it will join ANY file regardless, just remember to select all files, and simply rename the extension to whatever your source is. Great for MP3 files for radio broadcasting)

Forgot, you have to add that option by hand editing the rebuilder.ini file and adding it somewhere. I just add it as the very first line below [options]

And remember when/if you update DVD-RB, don't overwrite the rebuilder.ini file, or you will have to edit it again

The files are a total of 5.05gb. pgcEdit, VobBlamker, DVD Shrink and powerdvd have no problem with it. All those programs see it as a 1hr 58 min movie.
Here's the log:
[20:53:38] Phase I, PREPARATION started.
- HC encoder selected
- "Steal Space from Extras" mode (10%) is enabled.
- "Movie Only" mode is enabled.
- VTS_01: 2,649,706 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V & .AVS files
-- Processed 213,204 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
- Detected no frames and/or video to encode. Aborting.

Post a listing of the contents of the source directory.

screen capture from explorer will do.. or even go into the video_ts directory from a command window (cmd.exe) and do dir > dvd_dir_list.txt and post the text file

As I asked earlier, please post the directory. For example -- if there is no IFO files -- DVD Rebuilder won't touch it and will give you that exact error message.

I have a snapshot of the files. How do I upload them?

dialysis, did you try the full backup mode as opposed to the movie only mode, as it appears you are only dealing with one vts so you wouldn't be losing anything.
this is just a theory/guess so take it for what it's worth.

you may want to takethis time to get aquanted with tools such as vobblanker and ifoedit I don't know the exact prob. but I'm assuming it lies somewhere in the conversion/authoring method.
