I usually do a OPV HC encode in such a way:

1)prepare phase (menù + movie)
2)Preview/edit and blank unwanted material(mainly end credits)
3)save project and add to the batch list
4)enabling the "skip prepare phase"
5)start the batch

now i'm wondering:does DVD-RB takes into account the space i saved blanking out the material after rhe prepare phase?I think no,because it calculates the q factor during that phase so it cannot know what i'm going to blank, right?
So with an opv encoding it always use the already calculated Q factor no matter what i blank?

Right now -- yes.

When I work on the updated segment editor/viewer I'll see if I can add a section to recalculate Q/CQ values. It has been my plan for quite a while to move the Q calculation to the encode phase, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Use VOBblanker before you use DVD-RB to overcome this for now. Although JDobbs will not agree, since this can bring in some inconsistencies.

But none comes up, in my encodes, just FYI.
