First, I've been using dvd-stripper & dvd shrink method for a long time, but somewhat dissappointed in terms of quality -specially if the compression is under 75% (in shrink).
Now I'm looking for and alternative method to save the menus, but almost always basically want to remove everything else (exept filmographies).
So I found this program, but in any general info there's no note if this program could remove extra features but save the menus (like dvdstripper). I found some tutorials in afterdawn and doom9, but they're for old versions.
It would be really nice if there were at least something info in the official DVD-RB homepage, what this program can do -not just "it repacks dvd9 to dvd5 in superb quality". If there's 60min movie and 3hours of extras I surely want to delete them -without repacking.
Thanks for advance.
...and sorry my english.

Hi!
Loads of information and links to more at this "sticky" near the top of this page:

Have you gone to www.jdobbs.com? That's the official homepage.

while not "recommended" (i.e., not supported by jdobbs if you run into problems), you certainly may preprocess your disc/image with whatever tools you like before running it through dvd-rb. so if you're comfortable reauthoring discs with other tools such as dvd-stripper or shrink, go ahead and do so, then load up the resultant files or mount the resultant image and let rb have its way with it.

Make sure you do any preprocessing with no compression, though. You don't want to already make it ugly before running it through DVD-RB.

Now I'm looking for and alternative method to save the menus, but almost always basically want to remove everything else (exept filmographies). After you try it out with the freeware version you may want to look at the Pro edition. You can choose "Movie and Menu Only" mode and it will do exactly that. It also has a "Movie Only" mode. As an alternative you can use the segment editor to blank out any segment you don't want.

Would love to see a merge option in rebuilderpro some time jd, it would be very nice to be able to merge titles without having to preprocess. maybe just movies only to make it easy. examples would be tv episodes, two disc movies like the lotr series etc.

I have added that to my "to do" list. Not sure when it will happen.

Thank you. I was in the hurry and you were fast!
I found there's something wrong in dvd-rb.dvd2go.org, because I thought that is the official DVD-RB page, but I can't get their pages to work with firefox. I couldn't download anything because downloads section seems empty.... 0 files of everything ...weird?! Nice to know www.jdobbs.com is official page. And it surely looked like official page, too. With good introduction of the features etc.
But I also read the sticky and there were lots of good info!
Seems like the Pro version maybe the exactly THE program what I've been looking for! Only menu and the movie sounds very good. Do you think that means it'll be possible to save the "still pictures" in the menu structure too (or is it slideshow or something?) Hope you know what I mean? ---Arrgh, my english....
It will be nice to use DVD Stripper + DVD-RB in the future. Much better quality compared to Shrink. I really love CCE! I just made my first DVD-RB backup from the film "25th Hour". Awesome quality even the final size went about 55% from the original. And it took only couple of hours in standard settings... Amazing!
But DVD Stripper doesn't work in every DVD movies (25th hours for example) , so that was also one of the reasons why I started to look alternative method. Btw, I used dvdshrink to preprocess the extras and then I preprocessed it with no compression. I've been using it for a long time, but until now I found it can be used without compression!:o Thanks for great tip!
Now I want to backup my DVD's again from the scratch with DVD-RB (Pro) + CCE combination! You guys(&gals?) made my life hard. ...And expensive!
But I'm happy now.:D

btw, I didn't mean DVD-RB is too expensive. Far from that.
Blank DVD's are not so cheap where I live. ....Stupid "recordable media taxes". Only the tax is over a dollar (0.92euros) per blank DVD5. I've already paid that tax when I bought a dvd player, then another tax for dvd-burner, another tax per each blank disc. ...Grrrr
I have pretty big movie collection, so it's nice to find great programs which are cheap or even free to use (I'm not going to buy CCE SP). :D

Wow. That could add up quickly... I get blanks here for about 36 cents each.

well, whenever you visit the states, you might consider getting some dvd blank "souvenirs" :D . or maybe you know someone who's visiting abroad.
hmm, i'm not sure why you pay so much tax on blanks. i recall a while ago that my brother (who lives in germany) is getting his media for only a little bit more than here in the states... since you mentioned euros, i suppose you live in the EC (european community). have you tried ordering online? there should be no more additional taxes when goods cross the borders within the EC!?!?
and i agree with you: the combo of CCE + DVD-RB Pro is my numero uno! it has given me PERSONALLY the best results so far after extensively testing DVD Shrink, InstantCopy7 and 8, CloneDVD etc. i keep coming back to this combo.
considering what i have paid for those (cumbersome) programs, CCE + DVD-RB are a super-value. it amazes me again and again how open and therefore incredibly flexible DVD-RB is especially when you want to use filters or a different encoder/transcoder! aside from that: where else do you get individual customer support within 24 hrs??? :p

I never thought I hear the words/phrases, "considering what I have paid for", "cumbersome", and "DVD Shrink" used in the same reference - especially since DVD Shrink is (and always has been) freeware ;>}

sorry, you're right! of course i was referring to the other proggies. every "insider" would have understood it, right? ;) DVD Shrink is obviously neither expensive nor cumbersome. :D (darn, i KNEW someone would come after me for phrasing my sentence like this *lol*).
