First of all I don't know how to make avisynth plugins... not even close but I got this idea for a new plugin... maybe there's someone interested on this :D

I don't know if this exists... if it does... call me stupid.

I was hoping that a filter was capable to simulate 5.1 sound from a 2channels source, how?
Well... let's see if I can make my self understandable (let me apologize for my english right now :D)
I was hoping that the filter could get the 2ch source and get the sound frequencies (I don't know how to say this... let's say equilize as an HI-FI equalizer) to simulate the missing channels.
The most important would be the middle frequencies attributed to the center channel... he low frequencies attached to the SW and the high frequencies go for left rear and left right... now i wonder... is there anything like this out there?
can it be done?
If it can... I think it would be a good solution for a 5.1 simulation for home videos, right?

If this idea is stupid... forgive me... I guess I hadn't anything important to do today :D

keep it UP

Is that an AviSynth filter? :o

Ufff... I made a quick google and it doesn't seem to be :D
For a moment you scared me :scared: ... I thought I was making a fool of myself :)

I guess the general Idea could be acomplished with a Script but wouldn't that be nice to have a filter to do it? :D

What do you expect from?
You won't gain from just "splitting" high frequencies to left and right. And even if you follow your approach you will end up with a 3.1 Channel Audio.
If your Source is AC3 incl a surround Matrix, you could use the matrix to separate the channels, try it in ffdshows audiodecoder and feed it with a surround encoded AC3.
But even if you take these outgoing 5.1 channels and reencoding them separately, .. you will just do the job of your target Dolby Surround decoder. ;)

Why 3.1?
I didn't refer the front left/right 'cause maybe they could be the original 2ch... meaning... untouched.
Well... as I said it was just a thought :)

Well... maybe I would get the job the Dolby Surround decoder should do :) ... and .... I see a lot of stuff around that do things that another (previously) existing stuff is suppose to do, right? ;)
