With AVC encodes it would be very useful to know items about the media, like gspot does for avi/vob.

In particular being able to know what profile was encoded with in AVC.

Is there one? Gspot beta doesnt recognise mp4.

mp4info can display the profile/level

YAMB/MP4Box can also display profile and other video file information via the "extract" tab: -

Would be nice to have a tool that could identify VOP's, etc though :)

I would like to throw in another alternative.
MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net) is getting quite good at providing this kind of information for multiple containers about multiple codecs.
I do use both mp4info and MP4Box too, but this is yet another alternative.

I would really have liked to see GSpot evolve a bit more, but I guess by now we should consider the last beta-version just that: the last beta.
I hope MediaInfo will be able to fill it's place...

Errr, yeah that is what I meant to type. YAMB uses MediaInfo.

Errr, yeah that is what I meant to type. YAMB uses MediaInfo.I thought as much :D

In your coding experience, would it be possible to include implementations such as VOP and interlaced frame detection, like MPEG Modifier can?

Cheers
