Hi, I'm new to Doom9.
Hope I'm posting in the correct place.

I cannot burn to file or disc.
I'm quite new to video so I could have a fundamental problem with the files I'm trying to burn, but I don't think there is.

My captures were from a Sony Mini DV Handicam, 16K DCR-SC100 NTSC (Japanese)
Via Philips Cap713x (TV@anywhere software)
Capture Format (Mpeg): DVD(NTSC), 720x480, 4:3, 29.97fps, YUY2, 6500Kbps, no audio.
Note* In Win Media Player, the SEEK slider doesn't work when playing these.

These were edited in Premiere Pro 2.0
I've tried burning the sequence to Disc, Folder & ISO Image. Everytime after it starts Encoding Media after few seconds it stops with - Transcoding error.

I've exported (same settings & no sound) the sequence (length = 1:05:17) and individual clips as movies *AVI and via Media Encoder *.MPG
Note* In Win Media Player again, the SEEK slider doesn't work when playing the MPGs.
Then tried bringing these in to burn, same problem.

I even also tried burning with DVD Builder (very simple).
This also shows many errors:
WARN: Skipping sector, waiting for first VOBU...
and
STAT: VOBU 0 at 0MB, 3 PGCS
3 [main] dvdauthor 1140 handle_exceptions: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
3257 [main] dvdauthor 1140 open_stackdumpfile: Dumping stack trace to dvdauthor.exe.stackdump
Completed

Only ever get 2 VOBs
VTS_01_0.VOB 823 KB (which won't play)
VTS_01_1.VOB 0 KB

In both programs, I've tried burning short clips of 5 minutes to folder, located on both drives after defragging:
C: 65.2Gb free space
D: 108Gb free space

I Haven't been able to try with Nero because I don't have the Nero Mpg-2 plugin.

After the first few attempts (there have been many!), I was wondering if there was a system problem.
I realized there was no ASPI layer, so installed 4.6 with ForceASPI.
I tried playing a normal DVD.
Nero nor WMP would play a DVD, so I installed Power DVD.
Power DVD crashes with the "encountered a problem and have to close" message.
WMP will now play DVDs no problem.
Nero Showtime will not play a DVD because I don't have the plugin.

I'm beginning to wonder if Windows updates has screwed something up, but don't know what to look for.
*Something was changed soon after getting the computer, because open Explorer windows are not remembered after re-booting.
I've been comparing reg entries with another computer, but haven't resolved this yet.

Spec: (new computer, only 2 months old)
M'board: Prescott 800 dual channel
P4 3.2G
2048Mb ram
XP home
C: 76.3GB 65.2Gb free space
D: 189Gb 108Gb free space
TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-W162C firmware:TS10 (latest firmware)

I'd really appreciate some help, I'm running out of ideas.

Hi!

1) As far as having a properly functioning playback option, try using (freeware) VLC

2) Try "TMPGEnc DVD Author" for converting your MPEG video to DVD. You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:
